Snake Fights – Choose Your Battle Wisely…

As I was driving to work this morning, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind Exodus 7:1-12

“So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded.  Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials and it became a snake.  Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake.  But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staff and it became a snake.  But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.”

And as this scripture came to mind, He told me such as it was then will it be now.  This is still going on today, in this age… Snake fighting.  Snakes on both sides with people split over which snake is bigger.  Which snake will swallow up the other, but here is the thing – God’s agenda – His Word will swallow up the sea of politics.  There stood people on both sides – those that were with Moses and those that were with Pharaoh watching what was taking place.  Division amongst the people – as it is now.   How many of those people standing their woke up that morning expecting to go through their usual daily agenda, not knowing that their normal was about to change – beginning with the battle of the snakes and Pharaoh’s hardened of heart, pride and stubbornness resulting in the plagues that were going to come upon them (by the decision of their leaders) and affect them and their loved ones????  God’s will ALWAYS prevails.  Which is why our eyes SHOULD be on Him.

You cannot be in a social situation without politics being brought up.  The Bible says, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” (Mark 3:25)

What does the Bible say about causing division?

“For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naïve.” (Romans 16:18)

There is nothing new under the sun.  As it was then, it is now. We are living in a world where the Pharisees still exist, only they go by the name “politician” instead.

Matthew 23:27 “Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.”

Moses eyes were on God. He was looking to God for direction.  The strength he stood in before Pharaoh was in his dependence that while God had chosen him as His vessel, a vessel was what Moses role was. Moses was not looking at “man” for answers or for strength he was looking at a God who had called him to act on His behalf.  Throughout the book of Exodus Moses sought God for answers.

Who are you looking for answers?  Are you getting caught up in a sea of people watching snakes fight? Egging the fight on?  Putting dibs on this one or on that one?  Scoffing?  Causing insult to those whose views are different than yours? Are you mindful of who you represent?  Are your eyes on what God is doing? Or what He is going to do?  Are you one that is adding to the chaos or division? Do you enjoy “stirring the pot” or causing drama? Or are you one who has their eyes upon the One who knows it all from beginning to end?  Are you part of the problem?  Or are you part of the solution?  The bible tells us to be mindful of our words.

Snake fights are still going on today.  But the Creator of snakes – wins the battle hands down.  And He ALWAYS will.
