What is Your Focus?

Watch your thoughts, they become your words, watch your words, they become your actions.  Watch your actions, they become your habits.  Watch your habits, they become your character.  Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.  Essentially what begins in the mind eventually makes its way out of the mouth and then trickles down to affect every aspect of life – negatively or positively.

WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS?

Sometimes we need to re-evaluate what we are placing first in our lives.  How are you thinking?  The world thinks one way, but we as God’s called Remnant should be focused on the purpose and the will of God.  Every time our thoughts start to deviate to worldly thinking, we should be praying that Holy Spirit will reign our thoughts in and keep us focused on God’s will and God’s purpose for our lives.

Now in saying that, I am not saying that it is “not okay” to have nice things – it is ABSOLUTELY fine to have a new car, nice home, etc.  It is when the focus on your life becomes obtaining items and not focusing on the kingdom and purpose of God as a priority in our lives.

GOD WANTS HIS BEST FOR YOU!

But HIS best is BETTER than ANYTHING we can think is “the best” for our lives.  Greed and gluttony are not of God.  When you put something above God, it becomes an idol. The Bible says in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Listen, (and I can personally attest to this!).  You CANNOT out give God!

IT IS GOD’S PLEASURE TO BLESS HIS CHILDREN!

Matthew 7:11 tells us:

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

It also says in Matthew 7:9-10:

““Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?”

It is absolutely the Father’s desire to bless you!  BUT when we make items a priority (which makes them an idol) OVER Him, the items and the obtaining of them become our God.  Our mindset shifts from desiring to place God FIRST to placing the need for an item OVER Him.  We become focused on obtaining “things” instead of focusing on the will of God.  And along with that comes the “Jones’ mentality – one that is focused on “one-upping” others… Of thinking that they are “better” than anyone else… Looking down our noses with pride and arrogance at others… Or sinning by coveting what others have.  All those mentalities are NOT of God.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21:

“Jesus says “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

Luke 12:16-21 tells this story:

“And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive.  And he began reasoning to himself, saying, “What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”  But God said to him, ‘You fool!  This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’ So is the man who stores up treasures for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

When our focus becomes obtaining success, items and worldly possessions it becomes the center of our attention.  And here is the thing – when your thought process is “more! More! More!” There is no end to it!  There will ALWAYS be something MORE we have to have!  There will always be a desire for something else!  When we make God the center and the priority of our lives He adds blessings to us!  When Jesus is your Savior AND you have made Him Lord OVER your life – your attitude becomes one of worship!

“Father! Here is my life! Here I am!  Here are my talents!  Here are my gifts!  Gifts you have created me with to glorify YOUR name!  I give EVERYTHING you have given ME back to YOU so that YOUR name will be glorified!  Father, thank You for the car you have given me – may I be led WHEREVER You would have me go!  Thank You for the job you have provided me with as a means of what I need!  Thank You for your provision!  Thank You for my home!  That I have a roof over my head, food in my belly!  Thank You for my healthy body, my mind, my spirit!  May EVERYTHING you bless me with continues to be a blessing right back to You!  That YOU will receive ALL the glory, ALL the power, ALL the praise for everything I am, everything I have and with THIS life which YOU gave me – I give it back to YOU.  I love You Father!  I love You Lord, I love You Holy Spirit!  In Jesus’ precious name I pray Amen!”

You cannot put a price on joy, peace, fulfillment, satisfaction in walking with Him as the center of your life!  You CANNOT give yourself MORE than what the Father can give you because He knows so much better what you need than you do!  And I will personally testify to the goodness of God.  He is ALWAYS on time!  And He has blessed me MORE abundantly than I ever imagine in ways I could never even THINK of asking.  That’s God!    Everything belongs to Him.  And it is His good and perfect pleasure to bless us when our priorities put HIM FIRST.  When we seek HIM FIRST!  When we give to Him FIRST!  And it’s not about WHAT you give – it is about HOW you give!  What is the attitude of your heart?  Are you giving freely and because you want to honor the Lord? Worship Him with ALL you are? ALL you have?  Or are you giving to the Lord because you want Him to give you MORE.  It is an attitude thing!  God LOOKS at our hearts!  It is also a trust thing – do you trust Him?  Do you believe that God will provide for you?

Jeremiah 17:7-8 tells us:

““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” “

Hebrews 11:6 tells us:

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Please hear me when I say, that God LOVES you!  God KNOWS what you need!  The way that God blesses those who are diligently seeking Him are in ways SO much MORE than just monetary items!  You can’t put a price on the “peace that passes ALL understanding” or the “joy that floods your soul” when you are putting God first in your life!  The blessings of God outweigh ANYTHING that we can purchase for ourselves!  His forgiveness, His mercy, His love, His provision!  The God who OWNS cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) Owns IT ALL!  And it is HIS great pleasure to give to those who have made Him the center of their lives!

Can I tell you that the ability to do THAT in and of itself through Jesus’ giving His life for us alone should tell us to what extent God is willing to give to us?  No, we CANNOT out give God.  But we CAN put Him first.  The Jones’ in reality have nothing.  Don’t be like the Jones’, they should NOT be the expectation as to the example you set for yourself.  Our example is Christ alone.  Be like Jesus.  And watch and see God open the windows of heaven and rain down blessings upon you that you do NOT have the ability to even hold!

There is no GREATER blessing than making God the priority in your life.  Giving YOUR life back to the One who gave it to you in the first place – watch and see what He will do!  You CANNOT out give God! He reigns! \0/ \0/ \0/
