It’s NOT about me… It’s about HIM.
Welcome to “The Called Remnant.” My name is Kelly, and I am the Ex-Prodigal’s Daughter. I became a Christian 36 years ago during a Campus Crusade for Christ which took place at the university I was attending while studying Theatre Arts. It was then that I made Jesus Christ my personal Lord and Savior. I had no idea how much that course of action would alter my life, He truly has… I found out He had not called me to act, but to write. I actually like the way the Bible phrases it, it sounds so much better worded like this: I have been called to be a “scribe” for the Lord – I am a vessel who is called to write. The Holy Spirit fills me with inspiration, and what He fills me up with, I in turn pour out.
Matthew 13:52 says, “Therefore, every scribe who has been trained for the Kingdom of Heaven is like a master of a house who bring out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”
There TRULY is NO GREATER JOY than walking in the purpose and the calling God has on your life. Writing TRULY IS my worship, and it’s my responsibility to walk in obedience to my calling.
My prayer is that the words of this blog will encourage you in whatever point you are on your journey. God TRULY loves you and if you allow Him to – He’ll show you how real and true He is. I know because that is what He did with ME. You can find my testimony on how I came to know a God who has always known me here:
Pardon Me, I Should Have Begun With My Testimony… | (the-called-remnant.com)
If you ask Him to make Himself real to you, He will. I pray God blesses and keeps you now and always. Taste and see that the Lord is good – because He TRULY is! God bless you!
The Holy Spirit has brought you to this blog for a reason. Quieting your mind to find out what that reason is can feel harder than it REALLY is, there is so much noise surrounding us that sometimes we just have to take a deep breath, exhale and get quiet and listen. God is speaking to you. My prayer is that as you read the words of this blog, that Holy Spirit will draw you into a deeper relationship with Him. I can only speak of what I have experienced and what I know and what I know is this:
We spend all of our lives trying to figure out what our purpose is and really, it is very simple – so simple that many miss it. I know because it wasn’t until a week after I turned 21 that I found what that purpose is and I want to share it with you in hopes that you will discover yours so listen up. Because it’s really very simple, you are about to have one of those “slap your hand to your forehead” moments because as the Lord told me 35 years ago and these are His words verbatim, “It’s as plain as the nose on your face” and I want to share what I’ve learned with you…
Deep in the very core of you, is your spirit; it is a place that was meant to be filled with ONE thing and that is to be in a relationship with the One who created you for the sole purpose of knowing Him…. The only way I can describe it, is by saying it’s like a craving that we don’t even know we have… A hunger… And if we aren’t told what that deepest part of us is SUPPOSED to be filled with, we make the mistake of thinking we can quench that thirst with other things… If you are honest with yourself as you read these words, you are agreeing with me and shaking your head, because like a siren’s call, we hear it – we just go through life trying to fill it with other things in the hopes that we will find peace, love, contentment, purpose, satisfaction and we will try ANY means to get all that we hope to have and we do that by thinking it’s worldly material items, money, sex, family, alcohol, drugs or maybe some other fill that substitutes what is REALLY supposed to be there, this is where you fill in the blanks of what it has been. And the only thing it does is lead you to the “next” thing of trying to quench a thirst that was meant to be filled with ONE true thing and that is to be in a one on one relationship with the One who created you in love with the purpose of knowing Him.
I know because I once was where you are now. But throughout the course of my life God (through Holy Spirit) was standing at the door knocking, trying to open up my eyes to see that our TRUE purpose in this life He has blessed us with – is to know that He has created each one of us with a purpose and that is to experience a personal relationship with Him. This is where you have to quiet the noise down around you and say, “God is this true? If so, I need You to really SHOW ME.” And reader – I can honestly promise you, He will…
It’s NOT about people, it’s NOT about religion, it’s NOT about church – it’s called being IN a relationship… The MOST personal and fulfilling relationship you can be in with the One who loves you More than ANYONE you could ever imagine. Bible tells us in Psalms 34:8 “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” – That’s it in a nutshell and once you do – you will experience the “peace that passes ALL understanding.” And Oh the JOY that will flood your soul!!!! There are no words that I could adequately write that can express what it feels like to find your true purpose in life you have to experience it for yourself, because it’s personal. It’s between you and Him, and entering into a relationship with Him is the most important decision you will Ever make. God loves you so much… The Bible tells us in the book of Revelations 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with Me.”
He IS calling you, and here is the thing – up until your VERY last breath, He will stand there knocking on the door of your life and you can choose to open the door or to be oblivious to the knocking. The choice is yours, one of the greatest, most unselfish gifts God has blessed you with is the gift of “free will.” You get to choose. You can choose more of the same – going around the mulberry bush like a dog chasing his tail – always coming back to the same point or set of circumstances, or you can choose to really seek out what your life’s purpose is. The best way I can advise you to do that – is go to the Giver of Life and experience a 1:1, isn’t it time you chose a different route? God IS calling you to be part of His remnant. Isn’t it time you open the door and invite Him in? My prayer, is that you do…
In 1 Corinthians 12:14 says, “For the body does not consist of one member, but of many. If the foot shoot say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body wee an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as He chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is there are many parts, yet one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think are less honorable we bestow the greatest honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our most presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”
God loves you, He has called you and He has a purpose for your life. Life is a gift and it’s all about discovering what purpose God has called you to do. Oh yes, when He created you in your mother’s womb, He created you with a purpose. Our journey is to first begin by entering into a personal relationship with Him and then begin to seek Him and find out just what that purpose is. And through the Holy Spirit it can be revealed. You are a very important part of the body of Christ. He has called you by name. You belong to Him. The other thing that is important is to know that you are not alone. As you read above, we are MANY members – we make up the body of Christ. Through this blog I hope Holy Spirit encourages you to grow in Him, inspires you to read the Word of God for yourself and find yourself a church home where God wants to plant you, grow you and use you to be a vessel for others so that they can also experience a personal relationship with Him and find their life’s purpose.
My life’s purpose is to write. It’s my calling, it’s my passion, it’s my gift. Writing IS my worship. There is NO greater joy than sharing God’s love with others and I do it with a great sense of joy and responsibility. May the words of this blog bless you and draw you closer to the One who has called you here. Please don’t hesitate to contact me through my contact page should you need encouragement, prayer or support. After all – we ARE One in the body of Christ. We are God’s remnant. We are His.
May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace, May Holy Spirit guide you in ALL His ways. God bless and keep you always.
Love in Him,
Kelly
