Soldier, Watch Your Backside

Whether or not we like it ( or choose to believe it), we have to remember that we are in the absolute middle of a very serious spiritual war and our enemy fights dirty. If he can’t gain a foothold effectively attacking you from the front, he will change tactics and come at you from behind. Wisdom, discernment and prayer have to stay on the front burner of our minds.

Often, the enemy will try the SAME tactics that have worked on you in the past ( he looks for an area of weakness in you), and will come at you full throttle. Is there a vulnerable area that he has been able to gain access to you in the past? Believe me, he will try to see if there was an area that tripped you up in your walk, that will work again – he WILL try it. He fights dirty, remember? He WILL test it to see if that previous wound you suffered (especially if it turned you into a prodigal), has since (with your recommitment to the Lord) been fortified and closed off through repentance and prayer, or like a spiritually weakened limb, he is able to gain entrance again.

This is why it is important, (especially if you are someone who has experienced a prodigal time in your walk, and it doesn’t matter if it is as fresh as yesterday, or years past), if the enemy was successful in breaching the wall of you, he WILL try to breach it again – maybe through taunts, maybe through accusations, remember, this is an enemy who is out for your blood, because you have been blood bought and are a threat to him and to his agenda. And he has removed the white gloves to come at you in any way that will be affective. And while you’re thinking he will come at you from the front, this is when he will come at you from behind.

BE PREPARED

If the fort of you has been strengthened (previous areas Holy Spirit renewed), then the tactics of the enemy change and if he can’t breach the wall of your faith in the battle of your mind, he will change tactics and instead, attack your heart – come at those you love most. He WILL attack them. This is one reason why it is so important to intercede on behalf of your loved ones. Your husband, your wife, your children, – anyone you love! If he can’t get at you personally, he WILL go after them. Stand guard! Don’t blink an eye or waiver, stand firm! Our BIGGEST weapon is prayer! Pray for those you love, diligently! Believe God for them!

The dirtiness of the battle when dealing with a “heart-attack” from the enemy is when you see him try and use the SAME weapons of destruction that he used on you – on them!!

What was it that tripped you up in your walk with the Lord?

Generational sins that have worked in your family line before, are ones that the enemy will try to use over and over again WITHIN your family line unless the stronghold is broken through diligent intercession and prayer. Often we are not familiar with what has tripped our family up in the past, so we may walk into booby traps without knowing what we’ve walked into – so for those of us who are ex-prodigals, one of the things we can (and should do) in walking in discernment from what we’ve learned, is to walk in wisdom and pray those same “booby traps” of the enemy won’t be successful as traps set for our loved ones.

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING FOR THOSE YOU LOVE

Pray wisely, covering all areas of vulnerability so that the same tactics that the enemy used on you, won’t be successful against them.

it is really a spiritually eye-opening experience when Holy Spirit gives you discernment and you see the battle clearly before you and see how the enemy is attacking those you love, mocking you by trying to take them down in the way he tried to take you. Knowing that this may still be a sore area of regret that has not yet been fully healed. The enemy is trying to “pick at the scab of you” and bring up feelings and actions that God has ALREADY redeemed you from when you repented.  Don’t rise to his bate.

Soldier, stand your ground!

See the attack for what it is – our strength is NOT our own, our strength comes from God. If you have repented of an area, you previously struggled in in the past,

YOU HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN

Our enemy has the title of “accuser” for a reason, don’t fall for his accusations. Gird yourself up as in Ephesians 6:14

The helmet of salvation

The breast plate of righteousness

The belt of truth

Shod your feet with the gospel of peace

Most of all make it a point to:

GOVERN YOURSELF AND GUARD YOUR PEACE

Recognize the tactics of the enemy by walking in discernment and wisdom and don’t let his accusations or backhanded attempts at attacks to keep you from proceeding forward in your walk with Christ, in your interceding for loved ones, in ALL that God is telling you to do!

Pray wisely! Cover ALL areas of you AND your loved ones IN prayer!

Diligently listen to how Holy Spirit instructs you to pray! Pray for discernment! And don’t turn back! Don’t become defeated and withdraw from the battle when those tactics are revealed through Holy Spirit! He is giving you insight!

Seeing someone you love ignorantly being attacked in an area that previously brought YOU down can bring up a whole lot of feelings of guilt and memories that the enemy (because this is a battle of the heart, a heart attack). Recognize it for what it is – a form of accusation to cause you to stumble and doubt that God has forgiven you and as it says in Micah 7:19:

“He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”

And in Psalms 103:12:

“As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.”

Even if YOU remember them! If you are an ex-prodigal than you have ALREADY returned home to the Father, He has forgiven you! Don’t let the enemy try to bring you back to a place of darkness that has already been bathed in God’s light!

The victory has ALREADY been won! You see your time of being a prodigal, never surprised God (it pained Him, but it did not surprise Him because God sees in full) and God uses our messes (when we repent) as messages, knowing that He will be glorified through the experience when you, (through what you have been through) use that wayward, God-forgiven experience to extend the “right hand of fellowship behind you” to help someone else avoid  walking right into the SAME booby trap of the enemy that had previously tripped YOU up! Your lesson becomes a rescue mission! Your duty – to prayerfully redirect others from venturing out on the same wrong path you had ventured! Most minefields are not as obvious as others because they have been placed strategically so that they are not always recognizable. And sin and temptation seem appealing at the time, that is how they are able to entice and tempt.

Addictions come in MANY subtle ways and the enemy KNOWS this! Use what you have learned to help someone else! The attacks from the enemy are subtle and not easily recognizable – pray for discernment. Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us:

“Be very careful, then, how you live– not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

I speak from experience, my prodigal time began innocently, ignorantly by allowing myself to walk through a door I had NO business entering. I had no idea what I was opening up, what I was walking into – but the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13:

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

But, Beloved Reader – here is the thing, we ALL have free will, when that way out is shown to us, we have to CHOOSE to take it. Once I realized what I had walked unknowingly and unexpectedly into, I SHOULD have retracted my steps… But I had already been deceived, and the deception and lies of the enemy are STILL the same as they were in the garden of Eden when ol’ slewfoot lied to Eve, and made her question what God had said, see Genesis 3:1:

“Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

But the devil (who uses truth cleverly mixed with falsehood). Said in Genesis 3:4:

“You will not surely die.”

Listen, sin kills you. This enemy HATES you!  Why? Because God LOVES you and he hates EVERYTHING God loves – and that includes YOU. That includes your loved ones and anything you care about!

SOLDIER – WATCH YOUR BACKSIDE

Prayerfully choose to walk in wisdom and discernment so that when the enemy chooses to change the battle from front to back, you are prepared for those back attacks and can stand victoriously in the One who won the victory for you. Stand in Jesus. Because TRULY as in Revelations 12:11:

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

Holy Spirit brought you to this post for a reason, I pray that the lesson I learned from being an unprotected, naive soldier in Christ who stepped on a mind field that exploded and destroyed a part of my life I CANNOT get back, but that through repentance and redemption I share with you – so that YOU can learn and recognize those “heart-attacks” and “back-attacks” from the enemy and gain wisdom and understanding.  And so that you can see attacks on your loved ones who the devil may try to use as “weapons of warfare” or as digs to God AND to you in allowing them (as they walk in the free-will THEY have) to make the same mistakes YOU made and walk on mines that will cause great harm to them – and because of your love for them, to you.  PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

And watch and see for your faithfulness in loving and in prayer – what God can do.  Because we know from our own experience, what God has brought us through. As it says in 1 John 4:4:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

You ARE an overcomer – you simply have to believe it – I pray you do. I pray I do too.
