Are You Staying Stuck on Milk?

This is one of those “iron sharpens iron” words that even in the writing of it, I feel the depth-ness of a topic people would rather keep hidden under the rug of having a “thick skin.” Maybe Holy Spirit has directed you to this post because:

“Lucy, We Got Some Healing to do…”

Our psychiatric hospitals are filling up at a capacity like never before because there are so many hurting people. And so, I ask you to take a good look at your own heart and in the privacy of wherever you are reading this, to do an emotional pat down to see how you are doing… And if this pertains to you, allow that pain to reveal itself, rise to the surface of you – expose it, don’t hide it, so that Holy Spirit can start identifying its depth and begin to clean it and begin the healing process.

Some of you have wounds that are so old, you don’t even recognize them as wounds anymore… You just thought that they were “part of your personality” or something you felt you had to live with, or you felt you had to keep a “stiff upper lip”… The truth of the matter is:

GOD NEVER INTENDED FOR YOU TO LIVE WITH PAIN BUT WITH PURPOSE

The other truth is – that healing is ONLY found in Jesus. There is superficial healing and there is REAL healing, and REAL healing only comes from the One who created you in the first place, you just have to go deeper with God and allow Him to go deeper with you, it is a choice – you get to choose, but in doing so, you have to allow yourself the exposure of something you *may* have pushed deep down under and that hurt may feel like reopening up a cut… One that you tried to heal by just putting on a “band aid” without allowing it to be cleaned out first – and when it is exposed to Holy Spirit, He’s going to clean it out like it originally should have been addressed.  And some of the “dirt” and “yuck” that He brings to the surface may hurt real bad before it starts feeling better…

The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I was a little over 21 years old when I accepted Jesus as my Savior, made Him Lord over my life, that is 21 years of a worldly foundation set in me in the way I thought, in my perception of things, in the way I lived.  The way that the world functions is not the way God tells us to be – in fact, most of the time it is the total opposite!  So, when I began to allow Holy Spirit to renew or transform my mind there was a lot of “doing” that needed to be “undone.”  The world tells us to live “logically” by the world’s standards… But we live in a fallen world.  You cannot live life with the world’s standards and still please God.  In fact, 1 John 2:16 tells us:

“For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.”

And then there is Hebrews 4:12:

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

If something is emotionally paining you, everything within you may want to keep it on the down-low, deny it, ignore it, think it is “unmanly” to identify it or talk about it, but the truth of the matter is John 3:19-21 tells us:

“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

And Luke 12:2-3 says:

“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be known. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.”

Healing requires exposure. God already knows where the hurt is, why the hurt is, how the hurt occurred, but what He wants is for YOU to present it to Him. A good example of this is found in John 5:1-6:

“After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

Jesus could have just healed him without saying anything, but he questioned IF the man wanted to be made well.  Maybe God has seen you carrying this pain with you for so long that you are used to it, and maybe even figured that you would just have to “live with it.”  But Jesus is asking, “Do you want to be made well?” And part of the answer should be admitting that there is “something you need to be made well from.”

If you have proclaimed Jesus IS your Savior, if you have made Him Lord OVER your life, it is not His will that you live in anguish. He said, as written in John 10:10:

“The thief cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

In order to have more abundancy, you have to want it.  And part of that is by allowing Holy Spirit to transform your heart, your soul and your mind, and in order to do that – you may have to bring into the light what has been hidden in the darkness to allow God to do a healing deep within the heart of you.  This may not be a “one and done” deal, this may be something that requires layers of healing by Holy Spirit and a continued open mind and walk by faith to believe that God CAN do what it says in Joel 2:25:

“I will restore what the cankerworm has eaten…”

I hear Holy Spirit asking some of you reading this:

“DO YOU WANT TO BE HEALED?”

I also hear Holy Spirit saying:

“DO YOU BELIEVE I AM THE SAME TODAY, AS I WAS YESTERDAY, AS I WILL BE TOMORROW?  DO YOU STILL BELIEVE I HEAL?”

Don’t let the enemy convince you that healing was only done in the days of the Bible.  He does not want you to walk in the fullness of freedom that Jesus purchased on the cross for you… John 14:12 says:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

Holy Spirit wants to grow you in Christ, but the only way you can have a deeper walk with Him is to have a willingness to allow Him to renew or transform your mind, otherwise you will become spiritually stunted and instead of growing in Christ, you will remain the same.  1 Corinthian 3:2 says:

“I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?”

There are SO many baby Christians who are stuck at that breast feeding, milk drinking level. Hebrews 5:13 tells us:

“Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

There is SO much more… But you have to want it.  You have to accept that a lot of the times the renewing of your mind and the transformation of your thoughts WILL have a level of pain to it!  Yet the results are a fullness in Christ. Psalm 18:32-33 says:

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He causes me to stand on the heights.”

God desires a close relationship with you.  He wants to take you higher in Him.  Notice the above scripture says:

“HE CAUSES ME TO STAND ON THE HEIGHTS.”

Are you ready to move from suckling milk to a meat-and-potato type spiritual meal?  If so, let’s pray, let’s go higher in Him, up to the next level:

“Father God, I thank You so much that You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank You that You know my thoughts before I even think them!  You know me inside AND out… Father, forgive me for the times I’ve tried to bury things within me that I didn’t want to face, I didn’t want to stir up the things that have hurt me because I thought it would be too painful to allow them to surface.  I know now that the only way I can heal, is to identify EACH hurt and bring them before the foot of Your cross for healing.  So YES Father, I DO want to be healed!”

(THIS IS WHERE YOU BEGIN TO LIST THE THINGS THAT ARE HURTING (OR HAVE HURT) YOU TO PLACE IN THE FATHER’S HANDS. WHATEVER IT IS VERBALLY TELL HIM WHAT YOU ARE GIVING HIM RIGHT NOW.)

“Father, all that I have just given You, I release to You.  I ask that You do as You say in Your Word, ‘restore what the cankerworm had tried to destroy’ within me. I bring what has hard for me to admit or talk about or confess out of the darkness and right to the surface and I now choose to give it to You.  Heal me, Father. I believe that You can, and I’m ready to let it go.  Thank You that nothing comes as a surprise to You.  Thank You for cleaning out the wounds within me and filling those wounds with the healing balm of Your Spirit.  Thank You for filling me with ALL You desire me to be filled with, so that I CAN have hindfeet in the high places you long for me to go.  I look forward, Father for reaching those heights and seeing HOW FAR You have taken me, please help me to be sensitive to Holy Spirit so that I won’t miss ANYTHING You have in store for me.  In Jesus’ Precious name I pray. AMEN.”

If you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, then you can bet that renewal process has already begun, full steam ahead by Holy Spirit.  Trust that whatever it takes for God to do a good work in you, He WILL complete. Ready to eat a “meat and potatoes” spiritual meal?  There is NOTHING more satisfying than going Higher in Him who has called you.  Ready? Set? Let’s Go higher in Him!  Here we go!
