Do You Feel Like You Are Drowning?

Do you feel like you are in the middle of an ocean of situations? Chaos ALL around you and you are doing EVERYTHING you know to keep your head above the water?

That you are on the brink of drowning? That you are treading water, moving your hands and kicking your feet but your energy is wearing out and you are getting mouthfuls of water as the weariness sets in and you feel like you are trying your best to survive?

Maybe to the right of you is like the area where Lot abided, surrounded by hard hearted people who mock you for your faith in God, because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen and your mocked because of your trust and faith in God by those who’s eyes are blind.

Maybe you are surrounded by religious, pias people who judge every step you take like the Pharisees judged Jesus and the disciples, thinking that anything other than what they are familiar with is the only right way and you are the odd duck out, the spirit of religion is a principality. Maybe the waters surrounding you is something different, some type of familiar spirit or addiction that harasses you nonstop and has you crumbling ready to give in, you feel as though the forces surrounding you, harassing you, tempting you have reached a point where you are depleted. Holy Spirit has not left you, He’s there and He’s bringing whatever it is that is making you feel weak RIGHT to the surface so that you can realize that “It is NOT by power, NOT by might, but ONLY by HIS spirit!” Says the Lord. God did NOT intend us to fight spiritual battles on our own strength – but in EVERYTHING through supplication and prayer to bring it all to HIM. The weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal. We CANNOT fight in our own strength – we have to rely on God. Turn our eyes to Him. The psalmist said, in Psalm 121:1:

“I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.”

Sometimes God allows us to get weary fighting on our own strength for a while to bring us back to what we already know – the battle is HIS. When we recognize that we are allowing the Holy Spirit to reach a handout to us so we can grasp it and allow Him to put our feet on solid ground so we can sing:

“On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand… All other ground is sinking sand.”

I think that is why Jesus prayed the way He did when He said in John 17:9-11:

“And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.’”

He knew that we would have “arms flaying wide” moments in life when we would feel as if we were drowning in the sea of life. The Giver of life will sustain you if you cry out to Him:

“ABBA Father!”

Cry out to Him for strength in whatever your situation is – what is it? Wayward rebellious children? Financial difficulty? Emotional abuse? Sickness, illness and disease? A broken marriage? Maybe it’s circumstances of your own doing where you are feeling hedged in by unwise or sinful decisions that have led you were you are right now – well guess what? God Is a God that delivers AND He takes messes and turns them into messages – you are in the process of reading words that He has given ME as such was I! He IS the lifter of your head, so you see? Whatever you are drowning in – let Him lift your head! God forgives you! You ONLY have to turn to Him and ask! When we ask Him to forgive us of our sins the Bible tells us He throws our sins as far as the east is to the west! He remembers them NO MORE. You are free! God is calling you to call out to Him, allow Him to lift you out of whatever the situation is and put you on the solid rock of Him! He did not call you out this far to put you back again, He called you out to bring you into the promised land. Though there are giants in the land you will not be afraid – He called you out to bring you in to the promised land! Rise up! God’s got you, just call out to Him, stop trying to work things out on your own accord, that’s HIS job, not yours. You just have to turn to Him and let Him do the work in you that He has called you to do – IN HIM.
