Writing to me is an act of worship. Because I have been called to be a Scribe unto the Lord, I pray every morning that God will help me to walk responsibly in the calling He has set on my life. A life I willingly turned over to Him.
“I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives by faith in me.” (Galatians 2:20)
It is a huge responsibility when God reveals what He wants you to do with your life for you to do it. It is something that I take very seriously, I am accountable to Him for EVERY word I write. Hence, I pray before I write. I pray when I rise. I pray as I go about my day. I am EVER mindful that I am completely dependent upon Him. Do you do the same?
Maybe you are at a point in your life where you are seeking God; prayerfully asking Him what He has called you to be/do?
What great joy it is to Him for you to come to Him and ask, “Father, now that You have made me aware of You… Now that You have removed the scales off my spiritual eyes and now that I know TO WHOM it is I belong to, what is Your plan for my life?… When You knit me together in my mother’s womb – what vision did You see? Father, I don’t want to miss out on ALL You have planned. Please help me to have discernment with what that purpose is; please reveal it to me so that I can then obediently and wholeheartedly walk in it!”
Oh the joy that prayer must bring Heavenly Father! I visualize Him clapping His hands in delight! You are seeking out HIS WILL for your life! And the BEST part of that is the JOY in discovering what that is and then walking in it! The peace that passes ALL understanding will bubble up into your soul and pour over. The only way I can find to actually describe it is that you become filled with glee!!!! (I’m laughing as I write this)….(Yes I said GLEE!!!)
Oh the joy that will flood your soul! I know it because I have experienced it! Every time I hear Holy Spirit whispering into my ear – “Quick! Grab your laptop! Or pen and pad of paper! Quickly now!” I rise up from whatever I’m doing and reply, “Okay, here I come!” And out of obedience (even if it is 2, 3 or 4 in the morning) I do!
In my case, it is writing for the Lord. My responsibility is to take the inpouring of the Holy Spirit that floods my soul with words; pray about it, listen to it and then transcribe it – let it flow out of my fingers onto the paper (or screen) until the words are all poured out. I visualize my body as a vessel (it is), the Holy Spirit dwells inside me and I (having willingly given my life to the Lord) am just a tool for the Word of God to flow out in whatever capacity He deems. Sometimes it feels like I am just looking outside of myself watching as the words flow out of my fingertips and onto the screen (or paper). I type 95 wpm effortlessly, I truly believe I am a “finger” in the body of Christ.
Often the message Holy Spirit has me write out, is not only one for you, the reader – but for me too!
Here’s the thing – my calling is to write. So I have to walk in obedience to what God has told me to do. It is my act of love and commitment with my life unto the Lord. I am going to be held accountable before Him for EVERY word I write. That is a huge responsibility! I try to listen well to what Holy Spirit pours into me so that I can faithfully transcribe it and release it because its not meant for me to keep but to share.
That is the responsibility that God has placed on me – and I joyfully submit. Once I have been obedient to my calling, I have done what God has told me to do. This is where the responsibility “changes hands” – Once I have fulfilled what I’ve been asked to do, it is the responsibility of Holy Spirit to take those written words and allow them to flow wherever it is He means it to go. If something you read written by someone who is a scribe for the Lord touches you, changes you, and encourages you – PRAISE GOD! The Word of God is a living and breathing word. HIS WORD. What a joy to be a vessel unto Him in sharing it with others! There is NO GREATER joy for a believer to walk in his/her calling and be used as a vessel for Holy Spirit in whatever purpose He deems it to be!
Whatever your calling is – the ultimate purpose is for souls to either get saved:
“It is not God’s will that any should perish.” (2 Peter 3:9)
or for people to grow in their walk for Christ (have a deeper personal relationship with Him). Not everyone is a “finger” like me, you may be a foot or an ear or mouth.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
“There is one body, but it has many parts. But all of its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ. We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit, and so we are formed into one body. It didn’t matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink. So the body is not made up of just one part. It has many parts.
Suppose the foot says, “I am not a hand. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this it cannot stop being part of the body. And suppose the ear says, “I am not an eye. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If the whole body were an ear, how could it smell? God has placed each part in the body just as He wanted it to be. If all the parts were the same how could there be a body? As it is, there are many parts. But there is one body.
The eye can’t say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” In fact, it is just the opposite. The parts of the body that seem to be weaker are the ones we can’t do without. The parts that we think are less important we treat with special honor. The private parts aren’t shown. But they are treated with special care. The parts that can be shown don’t need special care. But God has put together all the parts of the body. And He has given more honor to the parts that didn’t have any. In that way, the parts of the body will not take sides. All of them will take care of one another. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is honored, every part shares its joy.
YOU are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.” (New International Reader’s Version).
It is an exciting thing to pray and wait for God to reveal what it is He has called you to do with your life. It’s an even BETTER feeling to walk in that calling, knowing that you are a willing vessel for God to glorify Himself through the life He has given you! Get excited! He WILL reveal it to you! Just listen carefully. Know that once you know what it is – you are responsible for what you know and how you conduct yourself. YOUR LIFE IS A REPRESENTATION OF HIM. What a privilege, what a joy, what a blessing!
You WERE created for a reason! Finding out that reason is the best experience one can have… Only surpassed by walking in it, all the days of your life.
Praise God!
