You Are Indeed What You Eat! What’s Eating You?

God’s mercies are new EVERY day, the older I get in Christ the more certain I am of how much we need Him.  We need a fresh touch, a fresh word, a fresh anointing EVERY day… It is not a “one and done” deal. We are dependent upon the Father, and the more we are aware of that need the more effective we can pray. John 6:35 says:

“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”

Our need for God is as the body needs the heart to thrive.  WE NEED GOD.  WE ARE DEPENDENT UPON HIM. Without Him, we are nothing more than a shell.  As we need physical nourishment we also need spiritual nourishment in order to grow and move and have our being in Him. Read Matthew 4:4:

“But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

That deep yearning that you are feeling, even as you identity with the words of this post, is Holy Spirit reminding you that you NEED the Father.  You were created to be in a relationship with Him, it is the desire of the spirit inside of you and if you have not recognized just what that need is – perhaps you have tried to fill it with other things, but it will not and cannot be satiated until it is filled with what it was purposely created for – fellowship with God, your creator.  Once Holy Spirit reveals to you just what that need is, the thirst that can only be quenched by God Himself will overflow and satisfy like nothing you have ever experienced before. John 4:14 says:

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Can I testify to how REAL that is?  Oh the joy that floods my soul with just ONE word from the Father.  There is NOTHING like it!  Nothing like being in a right relationship (due to the shed blood of Jesus!) with God.  You begin to understand why David danced! (See 2 Samuel 6:14) You can identify with Jeremiah who said in Jeremiah 20:9:

“But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”

God’s mercies are new EVERY day, but EVERY day we must seek Him!  He must be the priority in our lives.  He has to come first, we NEED to make Him first above ALL other things and people in our lives.  We NEED to give Him the first fruits of our day.  We NEED to seek Him for wisdom and guidance! As we draw near to Him, He will draw nearer to us.  It has to be an EVERY day thing – not a once in a while thing. Do you eat physical food every day? Do you brush your teeth? Get dressed? Have every day routines that you abide by?  How much MORE so should seeking God be as a daily routine?  I have noticed that my day feels off and not quite right, or I encounter extreme spiritual warfare on the days where I don’t start my day off in prayer or conversing with the Father, in my physical body, in my heart, in my mind.  He is a CONSTANT need in my life as substantial to my overall well-being as oxygen is to my body.  He is a MUST in every thought, every action, every situation I encounter and when you are conscientious of the need of Him, you find yourself automatically going into prayer mode through the course of your day.  We NEED Him, say it out loud, declare it:

“FATHER GOD I NEED YOU.  I cannot function clearly without your direction.  I feel lost without you. Forgive me for the times when I put You on the backburner of my life.  I need You front and center.  Father, please go before me, behind me, beside me – hedge me in with Your Spirit. Please help me to have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to receive ALL that You have for me not only today, but EVERY day of my life.  Be glorified, in Jesus’ name I thank You and I pray. AMEN.”

Revelations 22:17 says:

“The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.””

If you seek God diligently, you will find Him, God says in Isaiah 44:3:

“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”

He says in Isaiah 58:11:

“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

God’s desire is for you to be in the center of His will!  We have to rise above our feelings and sometimes seeking Him first is an act of obedience.  We have to get our minds in submission to the Word of God and sometimes the warfare can be strong.

Philippians 2:12-13 tells us the following:

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

The beginning of wisdom is knowing what it is we have to do and how we need to go about doing it. It may not always be easy but it certainly is necessary. Holy Spirit revealed to me today that during those hard times of persecution, warfare and trouble, during the lowest times in your walk with God, when everything around you would make you feel as though you are being squeezed to the point you feel you will burst!  It is times such as those when you sacrificially have to make an effort to put God FIRST, keep your eyes on Him and trust in Him even when you don’t see a way in the natural, and  you just want to cry out “Abba Father!!” (Or HELP ME FATHER) that He can and WILL move in your situation and in your life because no matter what you are going through, GOD IS GREATER.  GOD SEES ALL THINGS.  GOD IS ALL KNOWING and ALL POWERFUL.  GOD IS THE LIFTER OF YOUR HEAD.  Nothing happens to us that God isn’t aware of (even when we didn’t see it coming, God did!).  These are the times when we need to look back on the Word of God, read about Abraham, read about Joseph, read about David!  Those are just to name a few!  They are given to us as examples!  No matter what you go through in life, if Jesus Christ is your Savior and you have made Him Lord over your life – even when you feel out of control, He is STILL in control.

Psalm 37:23 says:

“The steps of the righteous are ordained by God.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 says:

“Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, lean not to your own understanding.  In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.”

In the midst of times of persecution and spiritual warfare that Abraham, Joseph, David and SO many others that we read about in the Word of God experienced, they only saw half of what was going on, BUT GOD saw their full story!  Because they chose to keep their eyes upon God, God blessed them! Look at Joseph!  He was shown favor by his captors because God made them do so!  And they came to realize that God’s hand was upon each one of them and because of that, those that were around them prospered!  Listen!  God IS the same today as He was yesterday as He will be tomorrow!  The Word of God for the people of God is no less relevant then it is for us today!  God does not change!  Our seeking Him first goes BEYOND our current circumstances and lives and echoes into any generations yet to come!  The significance for obedience to Him goes BEYOND ANYTHING our minds and hearts can imagine.  There is purpose for it!  So when your spirit cries out to you for more of Him, feed it!  Feed it through prayer!  Feed it through the reading of God’s Word!  Feed it through fellowshipping with other believers!  Feed it by obeying the calling God has on your life!  Feed it by SEEKING what that calling is if you don’t know what it is!  Determine within your heart, your mind, your soul that you WILL put God first in ALL you do and YOU WILL SEE God’s hand upon your life.  You WILL SEE God’s good and perfect will go forth from ALL you say and do.  Obedience shows where you are in spiritual maturity and where you are in trusting God.  And remember this, 1 John 4:19:

“We love Him, because He FIRST loved us.”

How about showing God you love Him, by seeking Him first. There is nothing like making God smile… Shall we? Lets!
