One day what was hidden in the darkness will be revealed in the light… It doesn’t matter that your story was told incorrectly, twisted lies by the father of lies that they actually believed…
Jesus’ was lied about… Jesus was betrayed… Just because they based their truth on lies doesn’t negate what actually was…
And the devil laughed because he thought he had won… Kind of ironic when you think about it, isn’t it? That the father of lies believed the BIGGEST lie of all.
He believed that he could actually rise a throne ABOVE the One Who Created Him. Isaiah 14:13-14:
“But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of assembly In the remote parts of the north I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ “
The father of lies lied to himself. As if the creation could best the Creator…
And even though he knows his days are numbered his goal is to make others believe the lies he weaves… And if you are part of God’s Called Remnant, his goal is to make those you love most believe lies about you. He twists memories, he twists circumstances, he twists the truth until those you love most can’t differentiate the truth from a lie.
BUT GOD IS THE GOD OF TRUTH
AND HE SEES THE TRUTH
The devil hates you because God loves you. The devil hates what belongs to God, and Scripture warns us not to underestimate his desire to destroy. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
When people tell lies about you rest in the knowledge that God sees the truth. And when people speak falsely about you, you can rest in knowing that God is not asking you to convince every person, correct every accusation, or chase down every lie. Matthew 5:11 tells us:
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.”
When people surround you with lies, you can pray for God to guard you and make your innocence clear. Trust in divine vindication. Rest in the knowledge that God knows the beginning from the end. Pray diligently for those who believe the untruths that they tell. Pray that God reveals the truth to them. Recognize that the evil one’s goal is to hurt you by using those you love most to inflict the worst kind of pain by trying to defame you in hopes that you will become unfocused on the LORD and on the work that He has called you to do.
One day, what was hidden in darkness will be revealed in the light.
It does not matter how many times your story has been told incorrectly. It does not matter how carefully the enemy has twisted the details, distorted the memories, or woven lies into something that others eventually came to believe.
A LIE BELIEVED IS STILL A LIE
And someone else’s version of your story does not change what actually happened.
Jesus Himself was lied about. He was falsely accused. He was misunderstood. He was betrayed by someone close to Him. People believed things about Him that simply were not true. Yet none of their accusations changed who He was.
TRUTH DOES NOT STOP BEING TRUTH SIMPLY BECAUSE SOMEONE REFUSED TO BELIEVE IT
Although Satan knows his days are numbered, his strategy has not changed. He still deals in deception. He still whispers lies and then works tirelessly to convince others that those lies are truth.
And sometimes the most painful lies are the ones believed by the people we love. The enemy knows where we are vulnerable.
He knows that a stranger’s accusation may hurt—but the accusation of someone you deeply love can pierce your heart.
So he twists memories. He distorts circumstances. He magnifies failures while erasing sacrifices.
He takes fragments of truth and wraps them in deception until people can no longer distinguish between what actually happened and the version they have come to believe.
But there is something the enemy can never change:
GOD IS THE GOD OF TRUTH AND GOD SEES THE TRUTH
He saw what happened. He saw what was said. He saw what was done. He saw what you sacrificed when nobody else noticed. He saw the tears nobody witnessed. He saw the prayers prayed behind closed doors. He saw your mistakes—and He also saw your heart.
NOTHING IS HIDDEN FROM HIM
The enemy would love nothing more than to make lies louder than truth. Second Timothy 4:3–4 warns:
“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
Sometimes people believe the version of a story that is easiest for them to accept. Sometimes they believe what reinforces wounds they already carry. Sometimes they repeat something so many times that eventually, in their own minds, it becomes indistinguishable from truth. But their belief does not rewrite history.
GOD WAS THERE
There comes a point when you must place your reputation into God’s hands. Pray for Him to guard your heart. Pray for Him to expose what needs to be exposed. Pray for Him to bring truth into places where deception has taken root. Pray for the people who believe things about you that are not true. And yes—even pray for the people who have repeated those things.
Ask God to remove the veil from their eyes. Ask Him to heal whatever wounds have made the lie easier for them to believe than the truth. Ask Him to bring conviction where conviction is needed, reconciliation where reconciliation is possible, and peace to your heart even before either one comes.
AND THEN TRUST IN DIVINE VINDICATION
Because God knows the beginning from the end. He knows every conversation you were never invited into. He knows every accusation you never had the opportunity to answer. He knows every distorted memory. He knows every missing piece. And He knows the complete story.
Perhaps one of the enemy’s greatest strategies is not simply getting people to believe lies about you. Perhaps his greater goal is getting you so consumed with defending yourself that you become distracted from what God has called you to do. If he can keep you angry, wounded, explaining, defending, replaying conversations, and desperately trying to convince people of your innocence, then he can keep your eyes fixed on the accusation instead of the One who called you.
DON’T GIVE HIM THAT VICTORY
You do not have to surrender your peace trying to force someone else to understand your truth. You do not have to spend the rest of your life standing in a courtroom that exists only in someone else’s mind, presenting evidence to people who have already decided what they want to believe. Let God be your Defender. Let God be your Witness. Let God handle what you cannot.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep walking in obedience. Keep doing the work He has called you to do. Keep praying for those you love—even when loving them hurts.
Because darkness may hide something for a season, but darkness has never been stronger than light.
THE FATHER OF LIES DOES NOT GET TO WRITE THE FINAL CHAPTER –
GOD DOES.
And when all is finally brought into the light, Truth will not need to defend Himself. He will simply reveal what was there all along…
THE TRUTH
