We are all works in progress… God knows that… And we WILL be as long as we have breath in our bodies… What is Holy Spirit saying to you this new day?
There are some who’s faith is like one going aimlessly through life, like an Autumn leaf being blown this way and that by the wind. Then there are those who determine to stand steadfast in their faith in God, refusing to be moved by circumstances, rooted in the Word of God. Determined to walk in the center of God’s will and NOT be moved.
Which one are you? I’ll be honest and say that I’ve experienced both, I’m now the later one, determined to walk in the center of God’s will and NOT be moved, but it has been the storms of life that have matured me in my walk with Him and caused me to realize (during those free-floating wind blowing times) that Jesus is the answer to EVERY situation. There will be times when circumstances bring you flat on your face before God, and you cry out as it does in Galatians 4:6:
“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!””
The definition of the word “Abba” from the little bit of research I did, shows that “Abba” is an Aramaic term for father, which expresses BOTH intimacy and an obedient heart.
Obedience comes from trials and learning how dependent we are on God. I wish I could say that when we give our hearts to God by accepting the gift of His Son, Our Savior into our hearts, that life becomes “peachy keen” and we just “skip to our Lou” (whoever came up with that term anyhow?? 🙂 ) and don’t encounter our any problems, but I won’t lie to you – that’s not the case. LISTEN, I pray God gives you ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to receive ALL that He wants you to know. I have spoken of this in previous posts, but it is worth mentioning yet again – we are in a spiritual war. It is occurring ALL around us. You can’t see it with human eyes, but just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it is not happening… It has been going on since the battle in Heaven occurred. The Bible talks about this in Revelations 12:7-11:
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
And the Heavenly battle with ol’ slewfoot’s battle is also mentioned in Isaiah 14:12-14:
“How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “ I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.””
Maybe in the reading of these words, you are just hearing about it now (this is why it is important to read your Bible :)) but although you maybe just learning about it right now, it is happening – and you have been a pawn in the battle because God LOVES you. And BECAUSE God loves you, the devil HATES you because he hates everything God loves. And YOU are a constant reminder to him of how much he hates God because God created YOU in His very image. So ol’ slewfoot tries to get at God by attacking you. By hindering you, by blinding your eyes (and those eyes of those you love) to the truth of God so that they won’t come to personally know their Heavenly Father, so that they won’t accept Jesus as Savior and make Him Lord over their lives; so that they won’t fulfill the destiny that God has created them for, a destiny of purpose in Him. (And let me tell you because I personally know this – there is NO greater joy than walking in the purpose God has for your life… There is peace in that purpose – even if it feels that all hell has been unleashed because you are walking in the center of God’s will). There is JOY (in knowing Who it is who holds you in the palms of His hands), there is CONTENTMENT (because you know Who it is you belong to, your life is no longer your own), and there is the MOST beautiful of LOVE (because you realize how far the Father has gone and WILL go to show His love for you. Once you belong to Him NO ONE can snatch you from the Father’s hands).
If you read the above and the spirit of fear or dread tries to come upon you, rebuke it. Because even though we are soldiers in the middle of a war that is ongoing around us, we can stand firm in the faith that God has called us because in 1 John 4:4 we read:
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
Dear reader, we don’t have any power in and of ourselves – we are reliant upon God.
Psalms 46:1 says:
“God is our refuge and our strength, He is an ever-present help in time of trouble.”
Have you taken refuge in Him?
“The Lord is my strength and my salvation, whom shall I fear? Whom shall I fear?”
In Psalm 27 David wrote this:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall, I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
“When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.
For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at His sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of You, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide Your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; You have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.
Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Teach me Your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
No matter what life throws your way, you will stand firm and be successful if you stand firm in Jesus, stand firm in the Word of God, stand firm in faith, girding yourself up as we have been advised to do in Ephesians 6:10-18:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
God did not call you to be a free-floating leaf floating this way and that through all the circumstances of your life. He called you to stand firm and steadfast upon His Word. Upon your faith in ALL that He is willing and able to do. You JUST have to believe. 🙂 I just have to believe. May we as His body, as His Called Remnant link arms and believe together, for the victory is found in HIM and Jesus’ has already WON the VICTORY FOR US. We only need to stand firm and walk in it. BELIEVE.
