Your Work is to Discover Your Work

Jesus was born with a purpose. YOU were also born with a purpose that God had in mind. The Bible tells us only what you do for Christ will last. Wisdom calls us to live with a mind set on eternity, for at any moment God can take us from this life and bring us into His presence.  As one of God’s Called Remnant’s we should not concern ourselves with the daily affairs of this world, but instead how we might please the Lord and live according to His word.  When you think about it, there is no eternal value in the accumulation of wealth, nice homes or expensive cars, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy nice things recognizing who it is who has blessed you with it, but the truth is, one day your life will be over and as you stand before the Lord, it will only be what you did FOR Christ that matters.  David boldly asked the Lord in Psalm 39:4-5:

“Make me know my end and what is the extent of my days; let me know how transient I am.  Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; surely every man at his best is but a mere breath.”

Job indicated in Job 7:16:

“I will not live forever… for my days are but a breath.”

James wrote in James 4:14:

“You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

I have a hand stitched sign that I got from a thrift store years ago hung up in my home office. It says:

“Your Work is to Discover Your Work.”

I’m not perfect at this, none of us are – but every morning I wake up and I say, “I love You Father, I love You Lord, I love You Holy Spirit. Thank You for giving me another day, a blank sheet of life to write upon, be glorified in it and help me to write well…” Only what we do for Christ will last. If you look at 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 it says:

“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

What are you doing for the One who died so that you may have eternal life??? How are you showing Him your gratitude for the sacrifice He made? If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, made Him Lord over your life, your life is no longer your own.  Remember Galatians 2:20 says:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

This is also where you can tell by a person’s fruit, whether or not they are “religious” or whether or not they have made and experienced a true confession of faith.  Being a Born-Again believer is one where you truly can identify with the “dying in Christ” part of your walk.  Sometimes those changes (like growing pains) can be painful.  Your mind is being transformed.  Holy Spirit is revealing to you what needs changing in order to glorify God in your life.  You CAN’T be in Christ and not undergo change and growth and renewal of your mind is one that you will experience (as long as you are open to it) ALL the days of your life, in Him.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:15-17:

“Be very careful how we live. Not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.”

Are we living wise? Are we making the most of EVERY opportunity? Life is fleeting, time goes by so fast… It is only God’s grace, God’s forgiveness, mercy and love that carries us through the days of our lives, doesn’t that make you love Him more?

“Father, thank you for the way You love us. Forgive us for the times we take Your love and forgiveness for granted. Show us how to love You back. Be glorified in these lives You have blessed us with. Help us to pour Your love into others as You pour into us. Please help us to be sensitive to Your Holy Spirit and to remember that we are to be Your hands and feet. Thank You for those who came before us, that interceded on our behalf so that the scales were removed from our eyes and we came into the knowledge of You. Help us to walk in love, interceding on behalf of those we know who don’t know You. Thank You for making us vessels that can be filled with Your Holy Spirit. Help us to fulfill the purposes You have for our lives. We love You Father. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.”
