Today I woke up and as I sat down at my computer, after praying, my mind went blank… I didn’t have a Word to share or a notion as to what I should write. And then I thought about the scripture, the last part of Ephesians 6:13 that says:
“…and when you have done all, you can, stand.”
Are you feeling like in certain areas of your life or in your relationships you have done ALL you can? Especially in interceding on behalf of someone(s)? If you have checked your heart and hold no animosity or ill-will towards others, if you feel no condemnation in your spirit, if you continuously ask God to remove anything that is displeasing or evil within you, asked Him to either change or help you change what needs changing within you – then you need to just stand in Him. God sees ALL things; God knows ALL things. He sees you; He sees your heart; He sees your situation. He is aware if you have been treated unjustly. He hears your prayers. When you have done ALL, you know to do – then it is time to stand, it is time for you to allow Holy Spirit to do whatever needs doing. To trust that whatever matters you have brought before the throne of God, He (through your relationship with Jesus and Jesus’ blood that was shed for you on the cross, Jesus’ death and resurrection and you verbally and truly making a decision to make Him Savior and Lord OVER your life) God hears you. Now let Him work.
Listen, even if you don’t see it in the natural, God IS working behind the scenes. We are called to pray; we are called to intercede for others as well as for ourselves. We don’t always know what it is God is doing in the lives of those we are interceding on behalf of – but you can trust that it IS God’s will that we as His called remnant pray! And believe! And trust! That IS in line with the Word of God.
When we are waiting for answers to prayers, we can reach a place where when we have done ALL we can, for our part – intercession and now it is time for us to move to thanking God for working, for moving, for changing hearts, for provision, for salvation, for healing – whatever it is we are trusting God for, we reach a point where we have come to the end of what He calls us to do – pray and believe and we need to trust Him to do a good work, whatever it is. If you are praying for salvation for a loved one that IS in line with God’s Word and you can trust that as much as YOU love that individual, God loves them MORE. 2nd Peter 3:9 tells us:
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
Looking back at my own salvation experience, God allowed situations to be orchestrated in my life that would bring me to the end of myself. I could not make sense of the violence I saw around me; I was at lost when my grandfather died. God allowed unfamiliar situations that would shake the very foundation of who I was prior to coming to Him to occur to allow my heart to be at a place where I would receive the gospel of Jesus, the Christ. It is so important for us, while earnestly praying for someone else to not get in the mix of what God is doing. We have to allow whatever situations loved ones go through, to get to a place where they have nothing or no one else to turn to BUT God. We CANNOT be the ingredient that “tries to save or fix” their situation. That is NOT God’s way – we CANNOT fix or save ANYONE nor is it our place to do so. No matter HOW hard it is to watch someone painfully go through situations that we can do NOTHING about. We can’t BUT GOD Can. Acts 4:12 tells us:
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
When we step into the mix and try to FIX something for someone, we can delay the answer we’ve been diligently praying for through intercession to occur. It is hard to see loved ones go through situations that you have no control over, but GOD is IN control. We are to keep praying, keep interceding, keep trusting, keep believing that God WILL do a good and perfect work in the heart of those we are interceding on behalf. THAT is our role as believers.
Sometimes it feels like our prayers feel redundant, and the devil will make you feel that because you are praying the SAME thing over and over again that it must mean that you don’t trust God. DON’T FALL FOR THAT TACTIC! Remember who he is when he comes against your mind when you are praying, remember the devil does NOT want those you are praying for to get healed, to get saved, to walk closer to Christ or come to salvation. Remember that James 5:16 tells us:
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
KEEP PRAYING
Sometimes Holy Spirit has someone strongly come to your mind and your heart BECAUSE your prayers ARE powerful and effective! Don’t stop believing just because you don’t see in the natural what God is doing in the spiritual! You have NO idea what is going on behind the scenes and YOUR prayers just MAY be what is fueling the battle. Start praising God for the victory! Start thanking Him for answering prayer! Remember 2 Corinthians 5:7 says:
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
Proverbs 3:5 says:
“Trust in the Lord with ALL of your heart, lean not to your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your path.”
Keep praying until you have received an answer, keep praying EVEN if you don’t SEE an answer, it doesn’t mean God isn’t answering or has answered, it means that sometimes He doesn’t allow us to see what that answer is until we are over on the other side. But this doesn’t mean that we stop trusting Him. When we place people in God’s hands, we need to leave them there. God has CALLED us to pray, He is the One who answers. We can trust God and in doing so we should keep praying and believing and trusting because God IS God and in EVERY situation in our lives, He is doing a work and even when it feels like things are out of control, God IS ALWAYS in control.
We can trust God and we can praise Him for His good and perfect will is SO much better than ANYTHING we can concoct in our own heads… Well will you look at that! 🙂 I guess Holy Spirit gave me a Word Afterall, even then I had NO idea what that Word would be. Praise His Holy Name! 😉
