Stop the Pretenses, Stop the Pressure!

This new year I want you to know, that you don’t have to start the new year off with pretenses… Most people start the new year with a resolution and then three weeks later their resolution has gone up in smoke.  Listen, we are ALL works in progress, if anyone knows that GOD does!  Remember:

GOD LOOKS AT YOUR HEART

Often the highs of the holidays hit an all-time low when they are over… We set unrealistic expectations on ourselves and on others.  How about starting the new year off with being honest with God since He knows how you are feeling anyhow?

“Father, I want to thank You for blessing me with a new year – a fresh sheet of life to write upon… I see ALL the things within me that need work, that need revival, heck – that need You!  So in this new start of the new year – I give You ALL the areas of my life that I feel are broken, that need Your touch, Your healing, Your restoration.  Father forgive me for all my sins and wash me with the precious blood of Your Son, my Savior – the One Who I have made Lord over my life.  Where I see broken pieces – You see restoration. I thank You that You see ALL of me, while I only see in part.  Fill me with joy at the new beginnings You have in mind for me.  Fill me with peace and love and hope, for I know fully well that I can do NOTHING without You.  Holy Spirit reside in my heart and fulfill the purpose God foresaw within me when He created me in my mother’s womb.  Fill my cup with Your purpose and let peace, joy and love run over today within me.  Give me eyes to see, ears to hear, a nose to smell Your sweet fragrance and a heart to receive ALL You have for me and mine.  In other words, I pray that You would be glorified in my life, in this day, in this new year. I love You Father, I love You Jesus, I love You Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

How about seeking your purpose in Him? For you have one… If you know it, how about humbly seeking the way God would have you go about accomplishing His purpose in your life?  How about waiting in JOYFUL expectation on the One who has begun a GOOD work in you?  Philippians 1:6 says:

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

You CAN take joy in this new year BEING CONFIDENT that He who began a good work in you WILL carry it out to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.  We are not confident IN ourselves – but in Him!  Doesn’t that make you joyful?  I am smiling myself as I type out these words… Our confidence is NOT in our flesh, is NOT in ourselves, it is NOT in our circumstances… It is NOT in our finances or even in the world – it is a confidence in KNOWING that the One who holds us in the palm of His hand HAS us.  Our confidence is in Him and in Him alone!  Hallelujah! \0/ \0/ \0/

If you know that the Creator of the earth wants you to put your will, your life, your dreams, your desires, your worries, your concerns, your loved ones, your finances, your health – whatever it is that is going through your mind as you read these typed words into the palm of His hands – you can TRUST that this new year will be filled with ALL that He has in store for you!  And it is God’s desire to bless you indeed!

A new year is a wonderful opportunity to begin a fresh, but let’s begin with praise and worship to the One who has blessed us with a fresh new opportunity to glorify His name and fulfill our purposes in Him. A new year honestly is NO different than God giving you a fresh new day!  We put so much pressure on the first day of a new year!  It is a fresh opportunity – but EVERY day that God gives us is a fresh opportunity!  Actually, every second, every minute, every moment that God allows us to exhale and inhale with the breath of life He has given us is an opportunity to begin a fresh!  We don’t have to wait to New Year’s Day to decide to re-examine our hearts and change the things within us that we feel need changing!  We CAN begin a fresh ANY time!  We just have to determine to do so!  Stop putting so much pressure on day one of the new year to try to get EVERYTHING in you together!   I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel peaceful, knowing that my God IS in control, especially when I have re-given Him the reins of my life to guide, direct and use me as He will.  God’s best is SO MUCH better than anything I could designate for myself.  My trust in this new year is in Him – NOT in me.  And as Philippians 4:13 tells me:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

And if YOU are IN Christ – so can you! 😉  Praise His Holy Name!
