We have to check our hearts every day to make sure we are in line with Holy Spirit and with the plan God has for our lives. I think that is why the Lord tells us to keep our eyes focused on Him. Matthew 7:24-27 says:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
If you are part of God’s Called Remnant, we have to remember to keep our feet firmly planted on the solid rock we stand, which is Christ Jesus. The storms of today are NO different than the storms of life in biblical times. And so I ask you what I woke up asking myself this morning:
“Father God, how am I standing? Am I standing strong in Christ or have I allowed my feet and my faith to waver? Oh Lord, there have been times when the unexpected storms that have risen in my life have totally shaken me, surprised me… But instead of drowning in the depth of despair I have cried out to you. “Abba Father!” And You Who sees ALL things because You are El Roi (the God Who sees me) sees ALL things! I put my faith and my trust in You! My feet stand upon the solid rock of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I recognize that my help comes from on high! My faith is not in myself. My faith is in the Rock upon which I stand on. Strengthen me, Jesus. My faith is in You.”
You see, when you are transparent before God, when you ask Him to reveal Himself to you, He will! When you worship Him (as I worship Him through the words I write), He strengthens you. When you ask Him:
“Father, You are the God Who sees me – El Roi, I live and move and have my being in YOU, if there be any evil within me, anything displeasing, anything that would keep me from hearing from You – remove it! Change it! I submit to Your will! To Your Way! Forgive me for my sins and wash me with the precious blood of Jesus. In Jesus’ precious name I pray – Amen.”
God SEES your heart! If you have a heart for Him than you are indeed standing on the Rock of Christ.
Listen, we live in dark times – I truly believe that we are in the last days, which is why we continuously have to check ourselves. Ask yourself this:
“Am I living for Christ? Ever mindful of how I am conducting myself and how I am treating others? Or have I lost focus? Am I living for the world? Am I asking God what plans He has for my life? Or am I living for prestige, for worldly positions? For self? For favor of man?”
If we are not careful, we can become prideful, and that spirit of pride is an arrogant spirit that comes from the father of pride – which is the devil. The definition of pride according to Google is this:
“A feeling of pleasure related to self-worth. Often derived from personal achievements and talents, desirable positions, or membership in an ethnic or religious , gender, social or political or professional organization or community.”
We have to remember that our worth comes from Who we are in Christ. There truly is NO greater joy than knowing God HAS a purpose for the life He has given you! Are you walking in that purpose? I have found that when I continuously seek God’s will over my life – when I do “heart-checks” on myself and when I walk in awareness that I am child of the Utmost High God, my purpose is found in Him alone – that what accompanies me is that “peace that passes ALL understanding.” That the storm that rages ALL around me is NOT Stronger than the God I serve. Come on, think about it – when we read about ALL the people in the Bible that God has given us as examples, we are to learn from their experiences.
THE PEOPLE YOU READ ABOUT IN THE BIBLE ARE REAL PEOPLE – NOT FICTIONIZED CHARACTERS. THEY WERE GENUINE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME – WHO EXPERIENCED TRIALS, TRIBULATIONS AND FELT THE SAME FEELINGS THAT WE FEEL. THEY FELT SADNESS, HAPPINESS, FEAR, DEPRESSION, ANGER, JOY TO NAME JUST A FEW, ALL THE THINGS WE FEEL, THEY FELT TOO.
The Bible is called “the Living Word of God” for a reason. It is our instructional Book, where we turn to allow Holy Spirit to speak a Rhema Word from God into our lives to show us where we are at, how we are to conduct ourselves, where we are to turn – the Bible is our sustenance, our spiritual bread to feast upon and in doing so, if we allow it to do so – it matures us in Christ. Helps us to keep our feet standing FIRMLY (because it is only in Christ we can do so) upon the Rock of Christ.
Maybe God is speaking to you right now, asking you to re-evaluate your focus… Is it on Him? Are you hearing what God is trying to say to you through Holy Spirit? We have got to quiet the noise around us so that we can listen to what Holy Spirit is saying to us. With me, Holy Spirit has always spoken in a loving quiet voice. I often have to pray:
“Father God, please give me ears to hear, eyes to see, a nose to smell your sweet fragrance and a heart to receive ALL You are saying to me today.”
WE HAVE TO WANT WHAT GOD WANTS. WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE OUR LIVES AND OUR SPIRIT IS IN LINE WITH WHAT HOLY SPIRIT IS SAYING TO US. WE HAVE TO DESIRE WHAT GOD WANTS ABOVE ANYTHING THAT THE WORLD IS SAYING TO US.
It is so easy to get distracted, to forget that our lives are not our own – if you have given your life to Christ, it is NOT your own, it is His. Truly ONLY what we do in Him will last. When this life is over and we stand before God, what will He say to you? Will He say:
“My son/ My daughter, you are indeed mine in Christ Jesus, and I love you… Here is the plan I had for you, but here is what you settled for.”
I don’t know about you, but me – I want to fulfill ALL that God wants me to do. I don’t want my focus to be on people – except for God’s purpose for giving me divine appointments to glorify Himself and His gospel by my life in the lives of those around me. Wherever I work, wherever God stations me – I do so as if I am on assignment for Him. While I am far from perfect, I make sure that those I come in contact with are able to see “Christ in me” and not to focus on “who I am” but “Who Christ IS in me! We are to be Christ’s Ambassadors and because we are soldiers in the army of Christ, we are to keep our focus on HIM. When we do that – stand upon the Rock of Christ, we may see the storm rage ALL around us, but it will not touch us because we do not belong to the world, we belong to God. The peace of God which passes ALL understanding will keep those whose feet are standing upon the Rock of Christ. The feeling or sensation of firmness comes from knowing that our strength comes from Him!
What are you standing on? Who are you trusting in? How are you living? Are you living for self or for God? How are you treating others? What is your focus? If you are standing upon the Rock of Christ than you are smiling in recognition and understanding of the words of this post. You are nodding your head in agreement, thankful that your strength comes from Him Who we serve. If you are feeling uneasy reading these words, Holy Spirit might be niggling at you. It might be time to do a self-heart check and re-evaluate where your focus has been, so you can make sure that where you are and where God wants you to be align. There is no greater joy than walking in a personal relationship with God, not only will it last through this lifetime, but for ALL eternity. Thanks be to God. Say with me:
“I love You Father, I love You Jesus, I love You Holy Spirit. You ARE my Rock and I praise Your Holy Name.” \0/ \0/ \0/
