This post may come as a surprise to you, but I encourage you to test me on this and see the truth of it for yourself! 😉
Are you going through a hard time? A time where you feel as though you are pressed against the wall? Are you under tremendous pressure and feel like at any moment you are going to crack? Feel like there is nothing you can do? Well, if that is where you are at in this moment right now – I’ve got the answer for you!
START TO PRAISE THE LORD, WORSHIP THE ONE WHO IS HIGHER THAN YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!
I see you rolling your eyes at me! I hear you saying:
“Come on Kelly, I don’t FEEL like worshiping right now. I don’t FEEL like singing and praising God!”
Well, honestly that is the time when you SHOULD do it most of all! That is the time when you NEED it most of all! Oh – excuse me, did you think that God NEEDS your praise???? Really? The One Who is MOST HIGH and HOLY and has LEGIONS of angels worshiping Him in Heaven. Do you think He REALLY needs your little measly voice? (I’m laughing and looking at you with a twinkle of amusement in my brown eyes).
Listen – God directs us to worship Him because He KNOWS it will STRENGTHEN you! YES, we SHOULD worship the Lord because He IS worthy and He deserves ALL the honor and glory and prayer! But the truth is God knows that when you raise your hands to worship Him, when you open up your mouth to sing praises unto Him your spirit and your soul become lighter! Your faith becomes stronger! YOU become encouraged because the presence of Holy Spirit becomes STRONGER in you! I kid you NOT!
WORSHIPING GOD BUILDS OUR FAITH! STRENGTHENS OUR WALK! ENCOURAGES US TO GO ON BELIEVING GOD! TEARS DOWN STRONGHOLDS!
Not to mention the fact that it annoys the enemy! Don’t you know that the VERY last thing the enemy wants you to do is glorify God???!
Worshiping and praising the Lord draws Him nearer to you and YOU nearer to Him! You become blessed by it! Encouraged by it! Strengthened by it!
I want to share with you some of my favorite worship songs and I will BET you that there is NO way you can just sit there looking defeated and glum and not feel like you want to get up and glorify the Lord! To dance before Him! (And I will tell you that I LOVE to worship the Lord, I am a terrible dancer, but it’s not a matter of how GOOD you are it is how GENUINE your desire to be AFTER God’s heart is! You CANNOT say you love the Lord and NOT want to give Him praise! Worship Him! Stop thinking about how others perceive you and think about ALL that God has done in your life and even now, behind the scenes IS doing!
JESUS LOVED YOU ENOUGH TO DIE FOR YOU! DO YOU LOVE HIM ENOUGH TO SHOW HIM YOUR THANKSGIVING BY WORSHIPING HIM? THANKING HIM FOR ALL HE HAS DONE? EVEN RIGHT NOW JESUS IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT-HAND OF THE FATHER INTERCEDING ON YOUR BEHALF! HOLY SPIRIT IS GUIDING YOU, TEACHING YOU THE WAY YOU SHOULD GO! WORSHIP THEM!
I find it so annoying that people can go to sports events or concerts and give their praise and all for their teams or favorite artists – but when it comes to God, they look bored or just don’t have the heart to do it! REALLY???!!! Yet when times are bad they decide that they NEED to pray and ask God for help. How would you feel if someone only came to you with their hands out when times were bad??? God IS merciful and graceful and patient, but we forget that HE HAS FEELINGS. He has done EVERYTHING to show His love for you! Even sending His Son to die on the cross for forgiveness for YOUR sins so that you could be restored to a RIGHT relationship with Him! What has your “favorite” sports team done for YOU? How have YOU personally benefited by their wins? I’m not trying to shame anyone – I am JUST saying maybe we need to prioritize where our energy is going and who it is we are choosing to praise! Especially when we don’t take time to worship and honor our Heavenly Father – and I mean WHOLEHEARTEDLY not as if it is a chore! Being after God’s heart is the BEST focus you can have! So, let’s test it! There is NO way you can listen to the songs I am including in the post and NOT feel the presence of God! I believe that strongholds will be broken as you lift your hands in praise, tap your toe, speak words of praise to the LORD for ALL He has done, ALL He is doing and ALL He is going to do in your life and in the lives of those you love! Spend time adoring Him and I promise you – the “peace that passes ALL understanding” the “joy that floods your soul” WILL come rushing in and what once seemed like a “duty” will feel more like something YOU want to do!
