For some reason, when we come to Christ, by that I mean accept Jesus as our Savior, make Him LORD over our lives, we think that we will run off into the sunset and live happily ever after… At least for some reason, I thought I would, but the truth is, if you TRULY are a part of God’s Called Remnant – a follower of Christ, you have made a choice as to what side of the spiritual war you are on – and in choosing Jesus, you have made the devil incredibly mad and pretty much have a target on your back.
But here is the thing – the victory IS ours in Jesus! By His death and resurrection, He has defeated the devil! Therefore, you are on the winning side! 1 John 4:4 tells us:
“Greater is He that is in YOU than he that is within the world.”
YOU BELONG TO GOD
I know all of the above may sound kind of scary if you are a new Christian, but there is truly NOTHING to be scared of, because YOU are a child of the UTMOST high God! In the 36 years that I have been a Christian, I can tell you that although I have failed God MANY times, He has NEVER failed me! 😉
Our lives no longer belong to us once we give them over to Jesus, and while the battle can often feel intense – I will tell you that there is NO greater joy than belonging to the One Who gave His life for me…
This world that we live in is not the environment that Father God desired us to live, the fall of Adam and Eve brought sin and death and spiritual blindness to many with it, but the joy and peace that passes ALL understanding is something that through redemption in Christ, I would not change for ANYTHING in the world… It is not easy, but I can tell you the most important lesson that I have learned through ALL the spiritual battles I have experienced in my life is that I am COMPLETELY dependent upon God. You see, God never meant for us to be independent from Him… Think of it like this, your body could not function without your heart. Jesus, I can tell you is my EVERYTHING. I don’t always understand the things I go through, but my trust is not supposed to be in myself, it is supposed to be in Him. This is where we need to look back on ALL that God has done, all the times He worked things out because we brought it to Him in prayer.
GOD IS FAITHFUL
We just have to do as Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
“Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart, lean not to your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”
It’s one of the hardest things to do when you are experiencing storms in life – but God IS faithful, and if you have made Him your Savior, LORD over your life your steps are ordered by Him. The Bible never promises us that life will be “easy” but it does promises us that it will be worth it – and it is. You just have to remember that the battle belongs to the LORD. He promises He will NEVER leave nor forsake us – and sometimes ol’ slewfoot will try and convince us that God isn’t there, that God doesn’t care – but dear reader, that is a lie from the pit of Hell! God is not a man that He would lie! ALL of His promises to you are YES and amen!
YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE!
i don’t know where you are in your walk with Him – a new believer, one who has been a prodigal and is making their way back to God, a seasoned believer, but I will tell you that God loves you special! His love IS real, even in our darkest moments… One day (and I believe it will be soon) Jesus will return and all of THIS will be just a memory, a moment! We will be with Him FOREVER, no more death, no more sickness, no more sin, no more burdens or worries! So keep trusting, keep believing! Keep drawing nearer to Him! Look BEYOND your circumstances because God IS greater than ANYTHING you are going through, just bring it to Him in prayer. If you feel as though you are at the end of your rope – let go and let God handle whatever it is. Just place it at the foot of the cross.
GOD CARES AND GOD LOVES YOU!
Choosing to love God is the BEST decision you will EVER make, one day we WILL go off into the “Son-set” (and yes, I meant to write it that way) with the One Who created the sunset, and it WILL be forever more – we just have to hold on, trust Him even at our lowest moments and believe! JUST believe!
