PERSPECTIVE – One word that is so powerful. It determines the way you think, how you deal with others, the way you live your life.
I’ve been thinking a lot about that. I don’t think this word is only for me… Maybe it’s time to renew your mind… Thought patterns become habitual and sometimes God wants us to take a good hard look at our thinking process. Are you a negative Nelly? Or an Eeyore? Do you see doom and gloom wherever you are?
Proverbs 23:7 says “For as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”
How’s your heart thoughts??? My Mom once told me (and I call it a “Mom-ism” because it has stayed with me, “A person is only as happy as they want to be.” I truly believe that. It’s easy to find fault in your life – to see the lack or problems around every corner and to focus on them, making yourself and everyone around you miserable.
The Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7).
We can choose to focus on the thorns and miss the beauty of the rose bloom. You get to choose… I believe we should count our blessings, so maybe think about what you DO have… Did you wake up this morning? (Obviously you did or you wouldn’t be reading this!) Do you have breath in your lungs? A roof over your head? Food in your belly? A job? Family? You name what you can think of that you are thankful for – even if it is only one thing. Change your “stinkin’ thinking” and your perspective will change, and when your perspective changes than a whole lot of other things in your life will change. Seeds of bitterness that you didn’t know were there will die off and you might just see that God’s Word is true! He came so that we could have life and have it more abundantly but it is up to us to determine what our perspective will be, because that becomes our “life walk.”
You have a choice – choose life! Change your mind…
