For EVERY Parent (Especially Those With Prodigal Children)…

If you are a mother or father of a willful child full of woe and disdain – if you are the mother of a child who judges you unfairly and harshly…. If you are a mother of a child that you have done your best by – faults and all… Know this… GOD UNDERSTANDS.
There is nothing in the Bible that is NOT addressed to THIS life.  It truly is the living Word.  If you have been rejected by your children – know THIS – you have a Heavenly Father who TRULY knows what rejection feels like.  On a very personal level!  He has been rejected by MANY.  What is His response to this?  It goes against the grain of everything we want to do… But if we are to look to Him for answers, we must realize that HE IS the Answer.
We must not retaliate.  We must not strike out in our pain.  We must LOVE.  Sometimes we must love in a higher form than those we love can see… As God loves!  And oh, it is HARD.  SOOOO hard!  Everything inside of you as a parent cries out!  LORD, THIS HURTS!!!!!  He is mistaken!  She is mistaken!  I know YOU SEE ALL.
This is a really hard word for some of us. Sometimes God gives me Words that minister to my own situation and that He wants me to share.  There is NO harder job in this life than being a parent!
BUT GOD KNOWS! WHY?
Because HE has experienced ALL that you have and are experiencing with that prodigal, with that wayward child – with YOU!  With ME!  With those that reject Him!  How it must pain His heart!  They think they know.  They don’t!  Their ways are not OUR ways and there are times when God has told me that He has only loaned me my children.  They BELONG TO HIM.
So what is God telling you to do? Rejected Mother? Rejected Father? Criticized and judged by your children?  Continue doing what God has called you to do!  LOVE them!  Love them in a form higher than what they can possibly understand!  Intercede on their behalf!  PRAY for them.  And cry out their names before the Lord.
You see, YOU CANNOT GIVE THEM YOUR FAITH!  But you CAN pray that God will bring them to the point that they will develop a relationship with Him on their own!  And when you do that – you have to guard your heart, because only God knows what will bring them in their lives to the point where they realize that they need HIM!  And it can be hard as a parent to watch what they have to go through in order to get to that point.  So what we have to do – and this is hard – is ask ourselves, “do we TRUST God?!”  Do we TRUST Him?  We have to entrust our children back to Him!  And we can’t step in the way and try to “fix” it because sometimes when we do that, we are interfering in what God is doing in their lives.
It can be so hard when all you want to do is protect them and wrap your arms around them – but they are at the age of accountability and you can’t protect them from the world – you can only pray them through it.  Pray protection around them, pray that God will break soul-ties, pray that God will do WHATEVER needs doing to bring them back to Him.  You CANNOT give your child your faith they have to develop their own and the only one who knows how that can happen is Holy Spirit!
Sometimes we can stand in the way of what the Holy Spirit is trying to do and cause delay.  Don’t BELITTLE intercessory prayer!  It is the BEST thing you can do for someone you love.  There TRULY is POWER in prayer, that is why ol’ slewfoot tries to fill you with doubt in doing it!  GOD IS CALLING YOU TO PRAY!  Come ON Warrior MOTHER! Warrior FATHER!  Warrior AUNT/UNCLE/GODMOTHER!  PRAY!
Cover them with prayer.  Though they treat you with disrespect and disdain – you know that the weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal!  PRAY!  You know that the Blood of Jesus is GREATER than ANYTHING the devil and his dominions would try to bring their way! PRAY!  You know that there is POWER in the blood of JESUS! PRAY!
That is the BEST way to parent your child!  That is the BEST way to LOVE your unsaved family! PRAY!  BELIEVE!  TRUST!  Because really, God has called us to be vessels of prayer – let the light of Christ shine through YOU. PRAY!  And after you have prayed – thank GOD for answering that prayer!  It is in line with His Word!  It is in line with His will!    And it is WHAT God has called us to do!
We CANNOT save ANYONE, but our prayers of intercession can!  God is able, we only have to believe and be faithful.  And when we can pray together as the body of Christ for our children! (Small and grown) our prayers are more powerful!

Pray with me!  “Father God, we come before you in the name of Jesus and we lift our children up to you!  Lord – you only loaned them to us, but ultimately they belong to YOU!  We intercede for them!  We pray that you would break all strong holds that would keep them from coming to know you as Lord and Savior.  For those that have professed your name, but have been stunted in spiritual growth, we pray that you would open ears to hear, eyes to see and hearts to understand your good and perfect will for their lives!  We pray that not ONE would be snatched out of Your hand!  We thank you for them, small and grown!  Oh Lord, give them hearts for you!  Father, you are the ONLY perfect parent, forgive us for the mistakes that we have made and we pray that you would break ALL generational curses that would try to continue on in our families.  We break them in Jesus name and we pray healing on our families.  Thank You Lord that you are greater than our mistakes, we pray that nothing would hinder our children (small and grown) from walking in the knowledge and love of You.  Draw them to You Father.  Break down the stony hearts and put hearts of flesh.  Draw families closer together, blended families, natural families – however they are – be in the center!  Give us wisdom and heal the wounds that prodigal children have caused our hearts.  Please be glorified and let their destinies in YOU prevail.  IN Jesus name we commit our children to You.  We placed them in the palms of Your capable hands.  Give us wisdom and guidance and the knowhow of how to be effective tools of your love.  Thank  You Father.  We love You and we praise You.  In Jesus’ precious name! Amen!”
