Are You Self-Fulfilling?… Or Are You Aware that You Are God’s Donut?

I grew up in the state where “Dunkin’ Donuts” was created.  You may be unfamiliar with that name, but Dunkin Donuts is a fast food chain that makes a variety of donuts and coffees. It began in Massachusetts, (where I am originally from) and throughout Massachusetts Dunkin’ Donuts is so popular that there are Dunkin’s across the street from Dunkin’s, they are in such high demand.  It was strange to me to move to Texas four years ago and see that an establishment that I grew up with, frequented almost every morning (it became a morning ritual) is a place here where I live (Texas) that is sparse and hard to find, but ooooooh the line of cars that I have to wait in to place an order in the one Dunkin I have found by me, it’s almost comical.  The things we take for granted… 🙂

As I indicated above, Dunkin’s specialty is their wide variety of donuts you can choose from – glazed, chocolate, chocolate frosted, Boston crème filled, strawberry frosted and so many more.  Literally a flavor and filling for anyone and everyone to choose a favorite, my favorite growing up was always the vanilla crème filled donuts.  These are donuts that have one large opening in the side of them, but the hole is not hollow, it is filled up with the sweetest richest of white vanilla cream, to the extent that it fills the whole inside center of the donut.  There are many other donut places here in Texas, but to me – they always fall short when I compare them to Dunkin.  (Okay – that is personal preference please don’t take offense… It’s all in what you are use to, right? 🙂 ). But its the analogy Holy Spirit gave me and why I even use it to compare:

Holy Spirit often speaks most to me mainly in one of two places – the shower or in the car while I’m driving.  Today, as I prayed and asked Him what topic He would want me to bring front and center, the term “self-fulfilling” whispered into my mind and along with that – came “donuts.” 🙂

The Bible tells us the following in Psalm 139:13-16:

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

God created you in love.  It doesn’t matter HOW you came to being, the fact is God KNEW you were going to be formed.  He knew because HE formed you.  And deep in the very center of your being (just like with that donut), He hollowed out a place within you that was only meant to be filled with Him.  If you look at Isaiah 43:21 it says:

“The people who I formed for Myself that they might declare my praise.”

Isaiah 43:7 says:

“Everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, whom I formed and made.”

1 Corinthians 6:19 says:

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

The filling of YOU was meant to be HIM.  Of course ol’ slewfoot knew that – and his job has been to make SURE that you don’t discover that.  That it NEVER occurs to you that THAT is WHY and How you were created.  He doesn’t want you to know that, why? Because he HATES you.  he despises you.  he doesn’t want you to reach your full potential which can only be found in Christ.  He doesn’t want you to live out the destiny that God originally had in mind when he created you. Why??? Because he doesn’t want God to be glorified in your life.  In fact – the devil wants to stifle you and with many of you he is doing it.  How? Because you have filled the very center of your being with things that are not of God… Maybe unknowingly, not purposefully – but if you are reading these words you now know.  You may not believe them – and even if you don’t it doesn’t change the truth.  Because the very truth of the matter is that you are either living for God or you are living under the devil’s thumb in ignorance of who you were created to be IN Christ.  God’s will is for you to accept His precious gift of salvation, which you can only get by accepting into your heart, His Son, Jesus Christ,  who was born of the virgin Mary, lived and died a horrible death on the cross for forgiveness of your sins (and mine), was resurrected and even at this VERY moment is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding on YOUR behalf.  Jesus is praying for YOU.  Praying that YOU will read these very words that He has given me to write and that the scales of darkness (which you may not even know) are covering your eyes.  Perhaps you are experiencing an uneasy feeling, as you read these words.  If so, it is your spirit – which is in the VERY center of your being, attesting by that uneasiness the truth of these words.  GOD CREATED YOU TO BE FILLED WITH HIM.  ol’ slewfoot’s biggest trick is to create substitutions to fill the areas that were intended to be filled with God because he wants you to miss out on ALL God has for you.

Here is the thing – you can read these words and shrug off the uneasiness that is filling you (which is Holy Spirit trying to reach you with God’s truth) OR you can dig deeper into your very essence and agree, that deep inside of you something feels missing…. Something feels lacking…. Something feels incomplete.  That incompleteness is what God wants you to see and identify and acknowledge, because HE wants to fill you with what you were always meant to be filled with – HIM.

What happens when you allow God to fill the very center of yourself?  Exodus 35:31 says:

“..and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship…”

Ephesians 2:10 says:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

God has filled you with gifts and talents that He intended you to use to glorify His name.  When you allow Holy Spirit to indwell within you to fulfill whatever purpose it is that God created you to fulfill you find the gifts of Holy Spirit which are found in 1 Corinthians 12:7 -11:

“The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as He decides.”

And when you allow and open yourself up to the indwelling of Holy Spirit you become filled with discernment, filled with peace, filled with love are able to hear the voice of God more clearly, walk in the knowledge of who you are in Him. And I can personally tell you, there is NO greater joy. NO greater love, NO greater peace than being in a personal relationship with God.  Knowing and praising God for His forgiveness, His grace, His mercy and His love.  And you become so filled with Holy Spirit that it begins to flow out of you and into the lives of others, because they see Christ in you and they want what you have – what they ALSO were created to have – HIM.  And if you allow Him to fill you, He allows you to glorify His name by showing others what it is they need to be filled with (Him) and it replaces ALL the substitutes that ol’ slewfoot had made them think was real.  EACH one of us who has come to Christ has learned the realization of that truth.  That “hole” within you becomes “Whole” when you fill it with God intended you to be filled with – HIM.  There is NO greater joy than knowing that what God intended you to be filled with IS Him.  And that my friend, is the BEST kind of filling there is!  😉 3 John 1:4 says:

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
