Holy Spirit – Do You Know Him? To know Him is to Love Him, Because God IS Love

I love Holy Spirit. Who is He?  Click on the link to my home page and read about the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – Three in One.   This will give those who do not know or understand (or new in faith) a better understanding of Who God is (Click on the pink link that says “The Trinity” right below and scroll down to the bottom of my home page, there you will find the description of the Trinity:

The Trinity

We are introduced to Holy Spirit in the beginning of the Bible, in Genesis 1:1-2:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit, recorded in  John 15:5-15:

“But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.  Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.  And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:  concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.  All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

When you make a decision to accept Jesus as Savior, Lord of your life, you are inviting Holy Spirit to come into your heart and become your teacher, your guide.  It’s amazing how Holy Spirit resides within us, if you open yourself up to it, His calming voice is one that you will hear as He leads you into God’s righteousness and shows you the things that need healing, need changing and the ways to deepen your walk in Him.  I invited Holy Spirit (through my accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord of my life) 34 years ago and I have come to appreciate and love Him as one would love and respect a mentor or teacher.  His voice is always calm and although at times insistent, He has never yelled at me.  He is caring and loving and patient and persistent.  He is the Third person of the Godhead, and HE IS PERSONAL.  As I write these words, my heart is full of love and appreciation because Holy Spirit NEVER leaves you once you invite Him in.  Ephesians 1:13-14 says:

“In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.”

And 2 Corinthians 1:22 says:

“And who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”

As you diligently work towards growing in Christ, Holy Spirit reveals things that He wants you to know, He bring the Word of God (the Bible) to life and will make scripture jump off the pages right into your heart!  I have had what I call “bug-out” times with Holy Spirit, where I stand in awe of new revelations He brings to my attention within the scriptures and ways to apply what it is that He is showing me into my life, into situations.  He shows me how to grow closer to Him.  He does so many things to enrich my walk in Christ.  He is where that “Peace that passes ALL understanding” comes in because He fills me with that peace.

Holy Spirit is what makes our relationship with God personal.  Having Holy Spirit in your heart TRULY is a seal (like a kiss!) upon us.  This is where you can see a BIG difference in those who have a “religious spirit” and those who are part of God’s Called Remnant as described in Romans 11:5:

“So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.”

And in Isaiah 10:21:

“A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.”

And in 1 Peter 2:9:

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

We have a God who loves us beyond any human words I could write.  He loved us enough to create us.  He loved us enough to send His Son, Jesus to reconcile us to Him through the cross and resurrection.  He loved us enough to send Holy Spirit to reside with us, to teach us and seal us for His Kingdom. What a MIGHTY God we serve.  To know Him is to love Him.  I pray you do.
