When I was a little girl and it was bedtime, my mother use to say as she tucked me into bed, “Kelly, no bad dreams allowed.” As she leaned over and kissed me good night. Because my mom said, “bad dreams weren’t allowed,” I believed her and would settle deeper under my covers confident that I would not have any bad dreams. My bedroom was situated on the floor above my parents’ bedroom. So, in the event that I did have a bad dream, I would knock on the floor, and my mom would come up, soothe me and encourage me to go back to sleep.
Are you experiencing a “darkness of night?” right now, in your life? A situation that feels hopeless? Do you feel anxious? Feel like you are living in a “bad dream” and there is no one that can comfort you? Feel like things are out of control? Holy Spirit has brought you to this post to let you know that God wants to comfort you. Even though things may feel as though they are out of control, and you may be feeling helpless – God wants you to really know that He is aware of what you are going through.
GOD SEES YOU. HE IS THERE. HE IS AWARE. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
If you have made Jesus your Savior, Lord over your life – He hears your prayers! God doesn’t always answer our prayers in the way we imagine He will. We have to remember that Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
If you are praying for answers, if you are interceding in prayer for loved one’s salvation – we have to allow God to do whatever He has to do to soften that loved one’s heart so that they can be receptive to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Think about your own salvation experience, what did God have to bring YOU through to the point where your heart was softened and receptive to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
DON’T STOP TRUSTING GOD, EVEN WHEN LIFE FEELS LIKE A BAD DREAM.
Trusting God means that even when life feels like the darkness of night, we hold fast to the fact that even if things feel “out of control” the One Who is IN Control is STILL in control. We are NOT to be led by our feelings, but by faith. God knows what He is allowing to happen in the lives of your loved ones. Hey – God CREATED your loved ones, He knows them better than they know themselves. Better than YOU know them. And furthermore, God knows what they need and how they need it. God knows what it will take and how to go about answering those prayers.
WE JUST HAVE TO TRUST HIM.
It’s okay to “not know how God is going to go about doing something.” We just have to keep trusting, keep believing and most of all, keep praying. The Bible is full of true stories of how God worked things out differently than how people expected. The most significant one is how the Messiah came. The Jewish people expected the Messiah to be a political leader that would deliver them, which is WHY when Jesus, the Messiah came, many did not recognize Him (or accept Him as such). He did NOT come in the way they expected! We have to allow God to do whatever He needs to do and trust Him for answers, even if we don’t know WHAT that answer is… Sometimes we just need to get out of His way.
Is Holy Spirit speaking to you in the way He has spoken to me this morning? To be honest, I got chastised, I began to get frantic with situations that have occurred surrounding my life, I took my eyes off of Jesus and allowed the sea of situations to cause me to begin to sink in my faith, in my trust in God, to question if God was hearing my prayers? As I came to Him in praise, worship and prayer and brought my concerns and worries to Him, I allowed the voice of Holy Spirit to override the chaotic noise that was trying to keep me from hearing the voice of God. Refocus. Holy Spirit spoke to me and indicated that He was indeed hearing my prayers, but I had allowed worry, fear and doubt to take precedence over my trust and faith. Are you doing the same?
LISTEN, GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL – THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME WHEN HE WASN’T. WE GET OUT OF CONTROL UNTIL WE ALLOW HIM TO TAKE CONTROL. TRUST HIM TO DO SO. GIVE WHATEVER IT IS OVER TO HIM. RELEASE IT AND TRUST HIM, BECAUSE HE IS GREATER THAN WHATEVER IT IS YOU ARE EXPERIENCING. AND HE KNOWS JUST WHAT IS NEEDED AND JUST WHAT TO DO.
Our job as believers is to continue to worship God. Intercede for others, pray for breakthroughs and then trust God that He WILL answer. To keep our eyes focused on Him, because even when we feel life is out of control, we serve the One Who is in control – and always has been. We just have to get out of His way and continue to believe… Let’s praise His name. \0/ \0/ \0/
