Put Your Eyes on Jesus, Not Your Circumstances

Jesus understands so much more than we give Him credit for… What are you feeling?  What point are you in your walk with Him? The one thing the enemy tries desperately to do, is whisper words of discouragement into our ears.  His purpose is to do the same exact thing that he did with Eve in the garden of Eden… The enemy wants you to doubt God.  He wants you to think that God is holding out on you.  He wants you to think that you are alone, that God doesn’t care.  His purpose is to discredit God, to get you to throw your hands up in the air, instead of putting them together in prayer, and believe.  Trust, worship God even when your feelings feel and your mind feels like doing anything other than praise God.

DON’T YOU LISTEN TO OL’SLEWFOOT!  IT’S THE SAME TRAP THAT ADAM AND EVE FELL IN.

God loves you so much, so much more than any words I could type could adequately say how very much God loves you.  God does NOT hold out on us, when thoughts come into your head that “God doesn’t care or isn’t concerned about you” play over and over in your head, you rebuke them!  Refuse to believe them! I’m not saying it is easy – I know sometimes it is not!  I don’t know what you are going through – but GOD DOES.  If your heart is heavy, God knows it!  He is RIGHT there reaching out to you!  Wanting to enwrap you in His arms.  BELIEVE HIM!  WORSHIP HIM THROUGH IT!  Don’t be led by what you are feeling, be led by what God’s Word says!  Ask yourself these questions:

DO YOU TRUST GOD?

DO YOU BELIEVE HIS WORD?

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST?

I don’t know why we go through what we go, sometimes it’s because God is trying to grow us – bring us to the next level and there is “crud” or stuff we need to allow Holy Spirit to change within us – maybe it is our thought process… I call times like that “spiritual growing pains.”  Sometimes the things we go through are because we are trying to change things that are not up to us to change… We are not God; we cannot change hearts – only God can… Sometimes the things we go through are because we live in a sinful, fallen world that is growing darker by the moment and as Christians, we see it, we feel helpless and defeated… Listen, it is times like that when we have to remind ourselves that the battle has ALREADY been won!  Jesus was victorious through His death and resurrection on the cross!  We are in the midst of a battle that has ALREADY been won!  Here is the thing, the devil wants you to believe otherwise!  He is desperate to get you to take your eyes OFF of God and onto whatever situation you are going through!  God wants you to know:

HE IS GREATER THAN ANY SITUATION THAT COULD PRESENT ITSELF!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  YOU ARE NOT HELPLESS!

There is so much more that is going on behind the scenes of your life!  There is a spiritual battle raging on behind the natural, you have angels that God has sent waring on your behalf, especially if you are determined to live for Christ!  To fulfill whatever the purpose is that God has created you for, for such a time as this!

GOD HAS A PURPOSE THAT ONLY YOU CAN FULFILL!

Listen, any Christian who tells you that they don’t sometimes struggle in their walk at one time or another is not being honest… We ALL do…  There is nothing wrong with admitting it, but when we struggle in our faith that is the time when we have to push through our feelings and believe what the Word of God says… Realize that we only see in part, but God sees in full!  When we feel like this, we need to pray harder and give whatever it is that is troubling us to the Lord.  He alone is God, He is our Father and the truth of the matter is, we are dependent upon Him.  That’s not a bad thing, it is a GOOD thing, because God did not create us to be independent, we NEED Him.  When I start to feel down in my spirit, I pray something like this:

“Father God, I thank You that I can come to You in prayer.  I know You know my thoughts before I even think them, but Your Word tells me that You want me to come to You in prayer and bring the things that concern me to the foot of the cross.  Thank You Father for caring, for loving me, for Your patience, for Your grace, for Your mercy, for Your forgiveness.  I love You Father.  Lord, I make a mess of things sometimes, sometimes the situations I find myself in are because of rash thinking or acting – please forgive me for my sins… Father, if there be any evil or anything displeasing in me, I pray that You change it.  I need You Lord, I can’t get through life without You, nor do I want to!  Father, I confess that I have done all I know to do, I don’t know what else to do or where else to turn. Jesus, You tell me in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

“Father, I am feeling heavy burdened, like I am in a maze, and I can’t find my way out.  But You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and I pray for direction, I pray for wisdom, I pray for help.  Please help me, Father.  Please make a way where I don’t see a way, because YOU are the Way.  You know so much better than I what I need.  I lift my heart and my circumstances up to You this day, for I know You are the God of turn around.  You are El Roi – the God Who sees me!  You are the lifter of my head!  You are my provider!  You are the One Who directs my steps!  You have said in Deuteronomy 28:13

“The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”

Father, You see my need…You see my situation, You see my heart… You know the desires of my heart.  You tell me in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

I am seeking You first… Father, Psalm 34:4-5 tells me:

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.”

“Father, I am surrounded by the world and people who do not believe in Your Word or follow You as I have determined to do… I am interceding on their behalf; they see my walk and they mock me… As they mocked Noah as he fulfilled the purpose You gave him – to build an ark during a time where there was no rain… Noah kept his eyes on You and Your purpose in His heart, give me a heart like Noah to press forward, to fulfill my destiny in You!  Romans 10:11 tells me:

“For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” “

“Help me not to be put to shame because of my faith.  Be glorified in my life.  Remove the spirit of heaviness from me and fill me with praise, for my trust is not in people, my trust is NOT in my circumstances, my Trust is in YOU ALONE.  Oh Father, please bless me so that I can continue to give a good and truthful report that GOD IS GREATER than ANY situation that presents itself!  Move the mountains in my life Father!  Straighten my pathway!  Rebuke the devourer!  Help me to walk in the victory that Jesus paid for me!  I thank You and I choose to praise You in the darkness!  I worship You! I give You praise because YOU are MY God!  Thank You Father for making a way where there IS no way!  Thank You for defeating the enemy and everything He would put in my way to discourage me!  I love You SO much Father!  I thank You for the victory!  I thank You for answering prayer!  I may not see a way and that is okay – YOU DO!  For YOU ARE the Way!  My trust and my eyes are on You.  Be glorified Father!  In Jesus’ name I thank You and I pray! AMEN.”

If you prayed that prayer out loud, you can BET that God heard you!  That He IS an ever-present help in trouble, and we CAN trust and depend on Him.  You have just gone before Your Father, the God of ALL creation and brought your concerns before Him!  Trust that He has heard you and now wait and see what Your Father does – because He is NOT a God that He would lie.  The Bible tells us in Ephesians Chapter 6 (Philips version Bible):

“In conclusion be strong—not in yourselves but in the Lord, in the power of his boundless resource. Put on God’s complete armour so that you can successfully resist all the devil’s methods of attack. For our fight is not against any physical enemy: it is against organizations and powers that are spiritual. We are up against the unseen power that controls this dark world, and spiritual agents from the very headquarters of evil. Therefore, you must wear the whole armour of God that you may be able to resist evil in its day of power, and that even when you have fought to a standstill you may still stand your ground. Take your stand then with truth as your belt, righteousness your breastplate, the Gospel of peace firmly on your feet, salvation as your helmet and in your hand the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Above all be sure you take faith as your shield, for it can quench every burning missile the enemy hurls at you. Pray at all times with every kind of spiritual prayer, keeping alert and persistent as you pray for all Christ’s men and women.”

You belong to God. You are God’s responsibility, He’s got you, trust in Him, continue to keep your eyes focused on Him (as Noah did, as Abraham did, as Joseph did, as David did, as Mary did – as SO many examples of people that came before us did.  They were not perfect – as we are not perfect, but the only perfect Man that lived is Jesus… God knows that… Our responsibility is to continue to live transparent lives acknowledging that we can do NOTHING in and of ourselves.  When we mess up – we confess it and ask for forgiveness… When we feel lost and downhearted, we come before the One Who IS the lifter of our head for wisdom, guidance and direction.  We choose to believe our Heavenly Father and not the one whispering accusations into our head. We choose to praise God because in praising Him, the spirit of heaviness has to leave – God IS in control, even when we feel out of control.  He is the Author and Finisher of our faith, and in God we WILL trust.  Trust Him, He IS in control – ALWAYS. Praise His Holy name! \0/ \0/ \0/
