Did you know that it IS possible to allow yourself to have an intimate relationship with the One Who Created you? No holding back, no secrets, pure transparency. The One Who created you knows EVERYTHING about you! He knows every freckle or birthmark on your body! He knows EVERY thought that goes through your head. There is NO holding back with the One Who Created you! Genesis in Genesis 2:25:
“Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.”
Shame didn’t come until they disobeyed God and ate from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The one God had told them not to eat.
Adam and Eve shared spiritual intimacy with the Father. The One Who had molded Adam out of the very earth. The One Who had created Eve out of the rib of Man. There was true transparency…
If you have accepted Jesus into your heart as your Savior, chosen to make Him LORD OVER your life – it’s time for you to let go of shame. If you have confessed your sins before Him, you have been washed clean by the precious blood of the Savior.
SHAME HAS NO PLACE ON YOU
Ol’ slewfoot tries to repeat the SAME tricks that he has tried before OVER and OVER. He tries to get us to doubt the Word of God. Why? Because He doesn’t WANT you to have an intimate, personal relationship with the Father. He wants you to “run,” to “hide” so that you won’t open up and grow in your relationship with God.
Whatever you are going through, or have been through – it comes as NO surprise to the Father. We live in a fallen world, this is NOT the world that the Father intended us to live in.
HE SEES YOU
HE KNOWS YOU
HE LOVES YOU
HE FORGIVES YOU
HE IS WITH YOU
All the thoughts going through your head that contradict those words are lies from the very one who is the father of lies!
God is not afraid of your feelings. Are you angry with Him? TELL HIM. Are you sad? Discouraged? Depressed? SHARE IT WITH HIM.
The truth is it says in Psalm 139:4:
“He knows our thoughts before we even think them.”
But even though that is true, He desires you to share your thoughts with Him. Transparency with the Father results in intimacy. The One Who knows your thoughts WANTS to hear them. He wants you to confide in Him. He is not like people – who take advantage of you and use what they learn about you to their advantage or hold it over your head. No.
THE FATHER CARES.
It may feel foreign at first. We are use to holding back, but with transparency and trusting that it is possible to be in a personal relationship with God is one that pleases the Father. That ability for us to be redeemed was purchased at a GREAT cost and to not take advantage of the precious gift of salvation and personal relationship with Him is not FULLY appreciating the gift we have been given.
It involves no one but you and the God. Think about it this way – a healthy relationship between a husband and a wife is one that only they can truly appreciate. It is one that should be like no other. There is an intimacy that only that couple shares. It is not the same as any other relationship. So is it in being in a personal relationship with God. YOU get to be YOU. You don’t have to “be on your best behavior.” You just have to be REAL. At first it may feel strange, talking to the Father like you talk to a friend, but the more you visualize Him being there, the more He will reveal Himself to you. You see, He WANTS to be close to you. And He WILL be as close to you as you allow Him to be.
It’s Real.
It’s easy to hide behind feelings. To run from God instead of TO Him. It is something we have to constantly work on throughout our whole lives… But He is there. He IS listening. He STILL answers prayer – it may not always be in the way that WE want Him to answer, but you can trust the One Who gave His life for you, loves you MORE than you can possibly know on this side of the grave.
Remember that we have a powerful enemy who doesn’t want us to experience the intimacy that Adam and Eve experienced with God in the Garden of Eden. He wants to plant doubt in your mind. Get you frustrated. Get you believing that God doesn’t care. NOTHING can be further from the truth. You see, the enemy knows what a beautiful thing it is to be in a personal relationship with God. He knows that to allow oneself to be open to hearing from God and walking in ALL God has for you to do, is one where the light of Christ will radiate FROM you and draw others unto the Father. And THAT is the very last thing the enemy wants.
Your relationship with God IS just that – YOUR RELATIONSHIP.
It IS personal. It IS private. It IS between you and Him. And that is the way God wants you to see it.
I’ll be transparent and share with you how I talk to God. He is my all. I see no point in hiding from Him how I feel, He’s omnipotent. He sees all and He knows all. So why would I hide? Here’s an example of a conversation I have had:
“Good morning Father, I love You. I love You Jesus. I love You Holy Spirit. How are You today? Thank You for another day. Father, I want Your good and perfect will to be done in my life today. I know I only see in part, but You see in full, so I ask you to please go before me. Go beside me, behind me. Hedge me in. I pray that I would not stray from Your will. I confess to You Father that I have no idea what the day holds in store for me – but You do. Father, I need You to restore to me the joy of my salvation, my heart needs healing with the loss of my husband and my mother, please help me to feel Your loving arms wrapped tightly around me. Help me to keep my eyes focused on You. Let me think on what is good and not allow the enemy to fill my head with thoughts that are not from You. I trust You Father. I need You today. Help me to walk in Your purpose. Let me feel You, see You, taste You, hear You. Let me not get hung up with what those around me think, but only what YOU think. Help me to stay in the center of Your will and forgive those Who would try to hurt me or cause me to turn my eyes from You. Forgive me for my sins Father and any way that I may have offended You. Draw close to me LORD and help me to walk in Your Spirit of love, mercy, grace and patience. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.”
Now those were my words, my conversation with the Father, they don’t have to be yours – YOU BE YOU. You don’t have to be ME. He knows you already, so there is no reason to hide. He takes joy in having you converse with Him. Did you know that God has a great sense of humor? The BEST conversations I have ever had have been with the One Who loved me first! I believe that is why it says in Psalm 34:8:
“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”
If you want to know what TRUE peace and contentment feels like – it can ONLY be found in a personal relationship with God. In order to experience it you have to be willing to open your heart to Him and ASK Him to make Himself REAL to you. And I PROMISE you – HE WILL.
It’s always been a personal thing, you see – you and Him. He lovingly created you when you were in your mother’s womb (see Jeremiah 1:5). You are tattooed upon His palms (see Isaiah 49:16). He simply adores you and He wants you to experience what TRUE love is from the One Who IS Love itself.
And guess what? You can’t “out love” God. 1 Corinthians 2:9 tells us:
“Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
My prayer for you Beloved Reader, is that you WILL allow God to love you. Our relationship with Him is like a two-way street. And the more you walk in His love, the more personal it becomes until it is the MOST important relationship in your life. For there IS NO adequate earthly comparison, nor should you compare my relationship to Him with yours. God has no favorites, He loves us all the same. The difference is the depth that you allow yourself to experience His love. It’s up to you. NOT people, NOT the world. NOT your circumstances – It’s up to YOU. He loves you right there where you are at. Let Him.
