If God is for you and you know He is the “Great I AM” than why are you worried about those who are against you? If you are part of God’s Remnant (and if you don’t know what I mean by that please click on the pink information below) then you are covered and protected by the blood of Jesus. You are redeemed and your steps are ordained by Him. How do I know this? Because the Bible tells me so! And if you make sure to read the Word of God, it will confirm this to you as well!
God’s Word IS truth! God’s Word IS full of instruction! God’s Word is applicable to the worries and cares of today! You will find I quote scriptures in my posts because THAT is where EVERY solution lies! There truly is no topic in the Bible that is not relevant to all that we encounter today! That is why it is referred to as the LIVING WORD. It is also why ol’ slewfoot tries to keep you too busy or too disinterested to read it! It is health and sustenance to your spiritual body! Even if you can only read a few verses a day – do so and you will be greatly encouraged and blessed!
We are so used to trying to “figure things out on your own” that we go round and round worrying like a dog chasing after his own tail. How is that working out for you? Some people never get to figuring out that WE ARE DEPENDENT UPON GOD. NOT UPON OURSELVES!
Most of the messes I see in the stories of some of the people in the Bible are messes they themselves made in trying to “figure it out” on their own instead of trusting in God’s help. We are no different than the teenagers of today who think they know ALL the answers and who say to their parents, “you were never young… You don’t know how I feel… You can’t understand…”
I see all the parents who have heard that or something similar to that reading those words! YET we are the SAME with God! We question the Father! The One WHO created us?! We take matters that we have brought to Him in prayer out of His hands or we play tug of war over them, hesitant to release whatever it is we are praying about into His good and capable hands! And half the time we end up coming back around looking for God to clean up the mess we have made in trying to resolve things in our own strength when if we had JUST entrusted it to the Father, there would be no mess to clean up!
The other thing we need to remember is that even though God usually works through people (the saved AND the unsaved) it is GOD who answers prayer. God shares His glory with NO ONE. We must make sure that we remember the source! It is good to be thankful for those God has put in place of your life to be used by Him (and to thank them for being willing vessels unto the Lord) BUT it is Holy Spirit who softens the hearts of those who want to do the will of God. Sometimes we tend to idolize people in place of God and that could be a dangerous place to find ourselves. People change, God remains the same.
We sometimes mistakenly fault God for the faults of people and the way they wrong us. God does not love as people love, we can TRUST God’s love. If we listen to God’s Word and we love as Jesus loves the difference we will see is within our own selves! Our perception of others changes when we look at people through the eyes of God’s Word. Honestly, there are some people I just CANNOT love on my own! But if I confess that to God, and I determine within myself to live as Jesus lived (since He is to be my example), than I can try to look at others as Jesus looks at me. Now, I’m NOT going to say its always easy – but I will say when you determine to live to please God (and not the flesh) you experience that “peace that passes ALL understanding,” (as written about in Philippians 4:7).
We are not to keep or put our eyes on people, we are to keep our eyes on God and desire to draw closer to Him, and the way to do that is through prayer, through the reading of His Word and through fellowshipping with other believers. I finally am at a point in my walk where my relationship with God is the absolute MOST important part of who I am. The world and the things in it have become more and more unstable as the days become darker and darker – but here is the thing, we are called to be the light. Jesus said in John 8:12:
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
And again in John 12:46:
“I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.”
Remember, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says:
“The God of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
If you are part of God’s Called Remnant, you shine the light of Christ! Your life and your testimony very well MAY be the only testimony of Who Jesus is and WHAT Jesus has done that someone who has never heard of Him MAY see. Let people see the light of Christ in YOU. The Bible also says in Matthew 5:14:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
As followers of Christ, we have a responsibility to allow Holy Spirit to do a work in us, for us AND through us, yet through it all you have free-choice and still have the choice as to whether or not you will allow Him to do so… And yet, there is NO sweeter joy than to know that when you gave Jesus your life, accepted Him as Savior, made Him Lord OVER your life that He IS in complete control, even during those times when you feel you are going through the fire. This is when we need to just TRUST God and know that if He brings you to it, He will get you through it! Because Child, YOU ARE HIS.
Rest in Him. God knows what He is doing, even if WE don’t. We BELONG to Him.
