2022 has been a year like none I ever expected to experience – but here is the thing, the Bible tells us in Proverbs 16:9:
“The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”
This is why it is important for us to build our trust in the Lord, to give the first fruit of EVERY morning to HIM. We don’t know what “today” holds in store for us – but God does… Instead of walking in fear as to what will happen to us, we need to walk in TRUST. The Bible tells us, for those that have committed our lives to the Lord that as in Psalm 37:23:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delights in his way.”
When we walk in trust, we can walk in peace knowing that although as in 1 Corinthians 13:9-10:
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.”
God sees the FULL picture of you. Nothing comes as a surprise to Him. He wants us to look beyond our situations to the One who is GREATER than any situation that can present itself in our life. It comes down to asking ourselves, who do we have confidence in? Ourselves or God? Peace comes with trusting God, believing that His good and perfect will will occur in your life – even if it doesn’t LOOK that way in the natural! God has given us specific examples within the Word of God (the Bible) to show us that there is MORE to what is going on than what meets our natural eye. We have to develop a spiritual discernment when it comes to the things in this life, want an example? Take a look at 2 Kings 6:9-17:
“Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.” The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places. This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?”
“None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”
“Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back: “He is in Dothan.” Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
God IS the same today as He was yesterday as He WILL BE tomorrow (see Hebrews 13:8). The examples He has given us in the Bible are just as current as what He is doing (and what He HAS done and what He WILL do today), so you can BET that if such was the case with Elisha and his servant, such IS the case with US. We only have to trust and believe.
Jesus has made us victorious over ANY situation that presents itself in our lives. There is NOTHING that God can not fix, change or handle, we need to bring whatever concerns us to Him, lay it right at the foot of the cross and TRUST that because our steps are ordered by Him, He will work out a way. Do you believe this? Do you trust God? Are you looking at a situation with your earthly eyes and not opening up your spiritual ones? It is an act of faith to trust God as Elisha did, when the servants eyes were opened, He could SEE what was going on in the spiritual realm which was a waaaaaaay different scenario than what was going on in the natural realm – we have to choose what we are going to believe. Are we going to believe God’s Word? God’s promises? Or are we going to walk in disbelief? WE GET TO CHOOSE. I can attest time and time again when I did NOT in the natural see a way, BUT GOD. When I started praising Him, thanking Him that He IS/WAS GREATER than the situation that was occurring in my life – when I REFUSED to quack in fear or allow myself to be swallowed up by the uncertainty that seemed to be ALL around me – I shook my head and said, “No! I have promises that God has given me in His Word to stand upon! I WILL NOT MISS MY BLESSING by walking in fear. And I started quoting back to God my promises. If this is you, this is how I prayed (and you can pray this too or something similar):
“Father God, I love You. I Worship You! I thank You that I have Your Word to stand upon! Please forgive me for all of my sins, those known and unknown, if there is ANYTHING that is keeping me from hearing from You clearer, I pray that You would wipe away ALL barriers. I come before You standing upon my promises, I come before You covered with the precious blood of Your Son, my Savior, Jesus the Christ who through His death on the cross for forgiveness of my sins has paved a way for me to come boldly before You. Father, I NEED YOU. Lord, You said in Isaiah 55:11 that Your Word will never come back null and void. You tell me in Matthew 6:33 “Seek Ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all else shall follow.” Father – I AM seeking You. You ARE first in my life. You are my God, my Father and everything I need comes from You. You said in Philippians 4:19 that You would meet ALL my needs according to Your riches and glories in Christ Jesus.” Lord, I know You are GREATER than this situation I am going through and I REFUSE to look at my circumstances instead of keeping my eyes steadfast on YOU. I NEED YOU FATHER. Please make away where there appears to be NO way. I KNOW YOU and according to John 14:16 You are the Way, the Truth and the Life – so I DO know the Way – the Way is You, which tells me that YOU are greater than ANYTHING that can present itself in my life. So I come before You Father, and I lay this before You _________________________ (PUT WHATEVER IT IS YOU WANT TO BRING RIGHT THERE). You tell me in Your Word, specifically in Luke 11:13:
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
And you also tell me in Philippian 4:6-7:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
You also tell me in 1 Peter 5:7 to “Cast all my anxieties on You because You care for me.”
Please open my eyes as You opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant, and help me to walk in complete and total trust in You that I will be victorious over this situation or need that concerns me. I CAN trust in You. Forgive my disbelief, Father. I thank You for answered prayer – You are ALWAYS on time and You ALWAYS bless me MORE abundantly than I can imagine. Thank You Father. I love You. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.
What You see is not always what IS being seen. You can be THIS close to the answer, and you don’t want to lose your blessing by allowing unbelief to keep you from receiving from God ALL that He has for you. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says:
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
And Galatians 6:9 admonishes:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Stop trusting in your worldly eyes and keep your eyes focused upon your Father who sees and knows ALL things. NOTHING is greater than Him. God IS always on time. He IS our Way-maker, nothing can happen to You that God does not deem will be beneficial or for your very good. Psalm 46:1 tells us:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Listen, throughout the Bible we are shown miraculous events that the world would NEVER have imagined could occur, let’s start out with the fact that God Himself LEFT the glories of Heaven, came down to OUR level to meet US where WE are at in the form of man, Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sin-less life and died on the cross for forgiveness of OUR sins, rose again and through His death redeemed us so that WE could have a RIGHT relationship with Father God. Now, when you think about THAT and you then look at your current need or situation, which compared to all of THAT should seem minute and small in comparison, don’t you think we CAN trust Him to listen and to answer our prayer according to His good and perfect will for our lives??? He has ALREADY shown us that He will do WHATEVER it takes to be there for us, to love us and to never leave us, it seems kind of strange doesn’t it, that still we have a hard time trusting Him? (I feel humbled even writing that, how about you?). He is Lord and God and best of all – He reigns. 😉
