How’s Your Feet?

Let me begin by asking you a question I have had to ask myself:

“HOW’S YOUR FEET?”

What is your stance?  How are you standing? When the waves of life billow and blow and ol’ slewfoot tries his darndest to knock you down, are you standing steadfast in your faith?

I say this as someone who has BEEN there!  What you go through in life can either break you or make you! Please listen – pray Holy Spirit quiets your mind and focus on my words.

GOD IS GREATER THAN YOUR CURRENT SITUATION. YOU JUST HAVE TO DETERMINE TO BELIEVE IT.

“Yes, but Kelly, I don’t FEEL like He is.”

DID GOD CALL YOU TO WALK BY FEELINGS?

“Yes, but Kelly you don’t know my current situation.”

I MAY NOT KNOW YOUR CURRENT SITUATION, BUT NOTHING COMES AS A SURPRISE TO GOD. HE KNEW AND HE KNOWS ALL THINGS!

“Yes, but Kelly I’m not hearing from God.”

DID GOD BRING YOU TO THIS POST? TO THIS PAGE? HE IS SPEAKING TO YOU – YOU JUST NEED TO QUIET YOUR MIND AND LISTEN.

I’ve said it a thousand posts – we are in the middle of a spiritual war!  But here is the GOOD news that you can rely upon:

WE ARE VICTORIOUS THROUGH CHRIST, BUT YOU HAVE TO WALK IN THAT VICTORY.  YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IT. YOU HAVE TO RECEIVE IT. YOU HAVE TO STEP OUT IN FAITH KNOWING THE PRICE JESUS PURCHASED FOR IT AND WALK BY FAITH!

Where is your spiritual armor soldier? Are you running around spiritually naked? Gird yourself up!  Ephesians 6:10-18:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Being a Christian does not mean that you will not encounter hard times, we live in a sinful, fallen world. BUT we are NOT alone!  We have been blood bought by the Savior of the world who tells us that in John 10:28-30:

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” “

So I ask you again:

“HOW’S YOUR FEET?”

In Matthew 14:22-33 we see Jesus walking on water:

“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowd. After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. Later that night, He was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and on his situation, he began to sink.  His feet began to sink and he was immediately filled with fear and panic.  You see, we HAVE to keep our eyes on JESUS.  Stop looking at your situation, no matter HOW dire it looks. No matter WHAT others say.  No matter WHAT our feelings tell us. The Bible says in James 1:5-8:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”

Pain hurts.  Disappointment hurts. People hurt.  Life can hurt.

BUT GOD HEALS.

Not once has there been a situation that God was not aware of… And that includes whatever you are experiencing or facing now. This doesn’t negate how you are feeling, God gave you feelings for a reason – but feelings have a place and they don’t come before faith.  Isaiah 41:13 says:

“For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you’”

I know there are some that will read this post and scoff because they think I’m talking “pie in the sky.”  But actually I am speaking from personal experience, when we go through hills and valleys during our walk with Christ it becomes part of our testimony to what God can (and does do).  Now I know that my story is not your story, and that is true – but God is no respecter of persons (see Romans 2:11).  You can’t look at Sister So-and-So’s story or Brother Over-There’s story and think their story is yours. You have your own, written by the One Who created you. Stop comparing yourself to others. Focus instead on the Lord.

GOD LOVES YOU. GOD CARES. GOD KNOWS.

The Father desires you to come to Him when you are burdened and heavy laden and to talk with Him.  Tell Him!  Bring whatever troubles you before Him. Do you trust God?  REALLY trust Him?  When the rubber hits the road there is no one who can trust Him FOR you.  We have to trust Him for OURSELVES.  Do you?  If you don’t, that’s okay too – just tell Him.  I have prayed prayers like this:

“Father, thank You that You are not as we are, unstable in any of Your ways.  Thank You for Your forgiveness and for Your understanding.  Lord, I am floundering. I am scared. I am uncertain.  Comfort me Father.  I need to feel Your presence.  Your Word tells me that You know my thoughts before I even think them… Therefore I see no sense in hiding my feelings before You.  You tell me to come to You when I am heavy burdened, I am heavy burdened Father.  I can’t see my way out of this situation, so I come to the One who can make a way where there seems to be no way. YOU are the Way, the Truth AND the Life.  Father, please help me.  Please strengthen me.  Please guide me.  Holy Spirit please fill me with that peace that passes ALL understanding. Lord, I choose to be like Peter and keep my feet firmly grounded in my faith in You.  You have NEVER failed me.  You say You will NEVER leave me.  You tell me that You are an ever present help in time of trouble.  Please be that help right now.  I stand upon Your Word, which You tell me is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path.  Thank You Father, for being there.  Thank You for direction, thank You for healing, thank You for guidance. I trust in You please never let my trust be put to shame. I know that Your Word tells me that You hold me in the palm of Your hand, the BEST place to be.  Be glorified in my life Father. Thank You.  In Jesus name I pray Amen.”

We never were in control of any portion of our lives, ever.  It is just that when times are good, we don’t think on that it is when times are hard and we are hard pressed with the pressure on… When you know who your Lord and Savior is, you can walk confidently IN HIM. That is why Peter was able to walk upon the waters of his life when his eyes remained focused on the Giver of Life.  Our confidence in how we live and move and have our being is never dependent upon ourselves, but upon Him. He won’t allow you to sink when your focus is on Him.  See His hand?  Our God is SUCH a loving God that when we don’t have the strength (or wisdom) to go on our own, He reaches out His hand to us, we only have to extend our hand out to His and take it.

WILL YOU?

And when you do, He will set your feet on solid ground. Set your feet on Him.  Because He’s GOT you.  You only have to realize it. He IS our solid ground. Ready to step out on faith? Believe Him.
