This is a word that some may not want to read, they say that ignorance is bliss – but the very meaning of the word, “Ignorance” is defined in Oxford Dictionary as:
“Lack of knowledge or information.”
The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6:
“My people perish for lack of knowledge…”
Keeping our eyes shut to the truth does not make the truth null and void. The truth is STILL the truth whether we choose to accept it, obey it and live according to it. The truth is this:
YOU HAVE AN ENEMY WHO HATES YOU – HE HATES YOU. WHY DOES HE HATES YOU? HE HATES YOU BECAUSE GOD LOVES YOU, YOU WERE CREATED IN HIS IMAGE AND THE DEVIL HATES ALL THAT GOD LOVES, BECAUSE THE DEVIL HATES GOD.
You may say to me, scoffing and waving me off:
“Aw Kelly, there is no such thing as the devil.”
If that is you, than he already has you right where he wants you, and if you believe that, you do not believe that God’s Word is true. The Bible speaks of this common enemy we have, his name is satan (I will not capitalize it) and he HATES you. Revelations 12:9 tells us:
“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
The devil’s plan is to keep those that don’t believe in him or think he exists in ignorance. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says:
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
John 12:40 says:
““He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.””
This enemy who has also been called “the father of lies,” “the deceiver”, “the accuser”, would like NOTHING more than for you to turn blind eyes from this truth. Many years prior to my making Jesus my Savior, Lord OVER my life, someone once started to tell me about the devil and it scared me, and I raised my hand in a gesture to stop them. I didn’t believe in him and I didn’t want to hear it. My heart was filled with fear and began to race, I did not believe in him and I did not want to hear of it. If this is you, your heart may be racing, your mind filling with fear because you don’t want to accept or hear it too. Let me tell you that:
FEAR IS NOT OF GOD
In fact, 2 Timothy 1:7 says:
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Fear is a spirit, just as the devil is real, there are demons and there are principalities and there are spirits. Revelations 12:7-9 tells about the spiritual battle that took place in the heavens:
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”
Isaiah 12:14-15 tells the story of how lucifer was :
““How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.”
Genesis then tells the story of the fall of mankind, through Adam and Eve, just as the devil deceived them, his tricks are the same and if they are effective he uses the same tricks over and over again. He is the father of deception, and he wants YOU ignorant to the truth of the Bible. The devil does NOT want you to know the truth of the gospel, the love of God FOR you and the purpose YOU were created to fulfill. He wants you to live in total ignorance ALL the days of your life. Why? Because the devil wants to steal from you, kill you, destroy you because he HATES you. Jesus said in John 10:10 says:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4:
“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
God doesn’t want you to be ignorant or fearful, He wants you to KNOW the truth! John 8:32 tells us:
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
What is the truth? What is it that the devil is fearful you will do? He is fearful that you will accept Jesus as the Savior. That you will decide to accept the precious gift of salvation that was purchased at such a high cost for you to have a right relationship with Father God. It is ONLY by praying this simple prayer (or one like it) that you can free yourself from the clutches of your enemy. Instead of walking in ignorance (or darkness), walking in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you want to thwart the enemy of your soul? Do you want to walk in the light? Do you want to have the shackles that he has placed (and perhaps you have not known about until now be removed? Do you want the blinders of the truth that the enemy has kept you in up until this point be removed? Than pray with me out loud this prayer, because if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (That’s from Romans 10:9). Okay – let’s sock it to the enemy! Let’s pray!
“Father God, thank You for bringing me to this post today, I know it was Your Holy Spirit that led me here. I didn’t know I was walking in darkness, I didn’t know I had a hidden enemy working behind the scenes in my life… Father God, I thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus born of the virgin Mary, Who lived a sin-less life to die on the cross for forgiveness of my sins. I thank You that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven, defeating the devil and allowing me to have a right relationship with You through the shedding of His blood and His death on the cross defeating satan. I ask that You would forgive me for my sins, and I desire and choose to make Jesus my Savior, Lord over my life. Jesus, come into my heart by Your Spirit and reign. I love You. I choose YOU. Thank You Father for hearing this prayer, I accept this day Your gift of salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen”
If you have prayed that prayer, you are safe within the hands of the Father. You have absolutely NO reason to fear the enemy of your soul, and while we need to be sober and vigilant (as described in 1 Peter 5:8) You should ALSO know that 1 John 4:4 tells us:
“Greater is He that is in you than he that is within the world.”
The devil holds NO power or jurisdiction over those who belong to God and if you have prayed that prayer, YOU belong to God. The enemy has been exposed! You have become a child of the utmost High God. You have received the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and now you need to fill yourself with the Word of God! So that you will know the tricks of ol’ slewfoot! The Bible also tells us that all the angels in Heaven are rejoicing over your salvation! Woo-Hoo! You have now become one of God’s Remnant and it is time for you to grow in your walk with Him! The BEST is YET to come! \0/ \0/ \0/
