Did you know that you could be the answer to someone’s prayer? That is if you are willing to be used by God… Can God rely on you? As I have been waiting for God to answer a pressing prayer of mine (fully believing that He will do so – and He will…) it occurred to me that throughout the Bible, God has been in the habit of working through people to answer prayer. Think about it, God IS omnipotent and it is not that He HAS to use people, He just decides nine out of ten times to work through people, and this is where we really have to take a good long look at ourselves and realize what an honor and a privilege it is to be His vessel, it IS a huge responsibility if God gives you an assignment to do, because the truth of the matter is, you *may* be the only representative of Jesus that whoever it is God gives you a divine appointment with, may ever see.
Think about it – God left the glories of Heaven to come down to the earth, Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sin-less life, died on the cross for forgiveness of YOUR sins (and mine) rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven as is even now, seated on the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf. It doesn’t get anymore personal than that. John 3:16 te4lls us:
“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus gathered 12 disciples during His time on earth, He taught them and then He sent them. Matthew 28:18-20 says:
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
If God should see fit to come down in the form of man to meet us right here where we are at… If Jesus would send forth disciples to continue spreading His Gospel, wouldn’t it make perfect sense that The Father would want to use you to glorify His name???
I’m not saying that this IS the ONLY way that God works – God can do whatever it is (and however it is) that He wants to do, but throughout the Bible it is clear that God chooses to use people as His vessel, so how do you know that God doesn’t want to use you to answer someone’s prayer, in whatever capacity you can? How do you know that God won’t use you to BE that open door that increases someone’s faith in God and is the tool which helps them praise God because YOU allowed God to USE you.
There truly IS no greater joy than allowing God to use you as His vessel. Matthew 5:14-16 says:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
This REALLY is what the church is called to do! You see, we ARE the church! And so as I search my own heart and ask the same question, I ask you:
WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR JESUS?
WHAT CAN YOU DO IN THE LIFE OF SOMEONE ELSE THAT WILL GLORIFY GOD?
ARE YOU ASKING GOD WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO? HOW HE WANTS TO GLORIFY HIMSELF THROUGH YOU?
The Bible tells us in Acts 20:35:
“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’”
For those us reading this (or in my case writing… 🙂 ) We need to ask ourselves, if we have committed our lives to the Lord, if we have professed Jesus as our Savior, made Him Lord OVER our lives – how is it we are showing people His love? How is it we are being opened to truly “being the light of Christ” – people should see Jesus IN us, that our lives will glorify His name. I can think of NO greater joy than being the vessel that God uses to bring someone to salvation or to be used as His vessel with whatever He has given me – talents, money, love – whatever it is that is needed to bless the life of an individual that would help them to TRULY see that God hears them, that God cares, that God STILL works through people to bless others that HIS name will receive ALL the glory, ALL the honor and ALL the praise. Because HE alone IS God. \0/ \0/ \0/
“Father God, you say in Luke 12:48”:
“To much is given, much is required.”
“Thank You for all the times You have answered MY prayers. Thank You for all the people that have touched MY life by allowing themselves to be used by Holy Spirit as vessels of blessings and encouragement into MY life. You are God, and You answer prayer in MANY ways, but I know that one of the ways you work, is in the lives of others. Forgive me for the times when I have selfishly or blindly not allowed Holy Spirit to use me for Your glory. Please give me eyes to see, ears to hear, a heart to receive wisdom and discernment to know when opportunities are presented in my life to make a difference for You in the life of someone else. Help me to be cognitive to situations that require a special touch from You. Thank You for wanting to use me to glorify Your name, I know that in You I live and move and have my being. Jesus gave His life for me, help me to use this life You have given me to make a difference in the life of someone else. This IS the desire of my heart. And as I am used to glorify Your name by doors Holy Spirit opens up, I pray that You do the same with others in MY life. Allowing someone to be a blessing is a very humbling experience, help me to be receptive to it and not to miss out on answered prayers because of pride. I know that every GOOD thing comes from You. Thank You Lord for ALL the blessings You have bestowed, are in the process of bestowing or WILL bestow in my life, however You see fit to do so, I praise Your Holy name. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN. “
Think of one way to allow God to use you as His willing vessel today – and watch Him bless you for it. For God IS faithful and you cannot out give God. Hey – maybe the answer to YOUR prayer is in YOU being used as the answer to someone else’s??? It is His pleasure to bless you, watch and see. 😉
