His Voice Above ALL Others

The most important thing we need to remember as we walk this walk of life in Him that has called us, is to familiarize ourselves with His voice. How do we do this?  We read His instructional book given to us in love – the Bible.  We spend time meeting with Him in prayer.  We get to know our Father’s voice.  We have been given Holy Spirit to guide us and with His help we learn the Father’s will for EVERY situation we encounter in this life.  We learn HOW the Father wants us to walk – in love and in truth as Jesus did.  Jesus is our example.

This seems easier said at times then done, which is why we have to continue to seek God for guidance.  Many of us have heard the saying:

“What would Jesus do?”

And even though it has become cliche the truth is we really should measure our behavior, the way we live, the way we speak, the way we deal with others in a manner that Jesus would. (This is a life-long learning experience, one that we have to work on throughout our walk with Him as we strive to live according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh).  And we have an enemy that continuously tries to “poke the bear in us” to get us to respond in a way that does not honor God.  This is something that we always have to be conscientious because at the end of our lives we will stand before God and be accountable for how we lived, how we treated others, what our focus was on and whether or not we lived a life first having accepted God’s gift of salvation (accepted His Son, Our Savior, Jesus as Savior, and made Him Lord OVER our lives).  The best thing we can do as we walk through this life, is make sure that we are adhering to His voice above ALL others.  We do this by constantly doing “self-checks” with Holy Spirit on how we are living.  We allow Holy Spirit to transform our minds.

For those of us who are standing on the Rock of Jesus in the middle of a storm, we need to remember that God IS greater than anything we could EVER experience.  Our comfort is in Jesus.  1 Peter 4:12-13 says:

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the revelation of His glory you may also rejoice and be overjoyed.”

All of our attention has GOT to be on Jesus! The Keeper of our faith!  He IS the Way, the Truth and the Life!  If you are part of God’s Called Remnant, your life is hidden in Him!  We are not to be swayed by the storm because on Christ the mighty Rock we stand!  That means when storms rise up, we rest in Him.  We are not dependent upon ourselves; we are dependent upon Him!  We can TRUST Him!  We can RELY on Him!  Psalm 23:4 says:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.”

Sometimes we just have to let go and let God!  That in and of itself is an act of trust!  Listen, the enemy will come at you every dirty way he can! In the most unexpected ways, by the most unexpected people!  We are in a spiritual war and the devil knows his time is short!  This is why it is so important to be grounded in the Word of God.  To be girded up in our spiritual armor (as described in Ephesians chapter 6) so that we can do what it says in Galatians 6:9:

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

We should not be surprised that if we are living for Christ we are on the frontline of this war – the devil doesn’t want you to declare how GOOD God is.  What He has done for you!  What He is doing!  You’ve made a mighty enemy if you are a “big mouth” for Jesus.  But here is the thing – 1 John 4:4 says:

“Greater is He that is in me than he that is within the world.”

In other words,

GOD IS GREATER!

Psalm 37:1 tells us:

“Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.”

Learning to listen to the voice of God readies us for all that comes our way, at first this may seem hard to do as we retrain our minds; but after a while of allowing Holy Spirit to transform whatever it is within us that needs transforming, we begin to recognize an attack of the enemy and position ourselves to stand steadfast on the Rock of Christ.  It doesn’t mean the storms won’t still come, but it does mean that we will not be swayed because instead of focusing on the storm – we remain focused on Jesus.  The Author and Finisher of our faith!  And He IS faithful – all the time. 😉
