In a world that is changing so fast it is hard to keep up with it, GOD is STEADFAST. Everything within the Word of God is for today. Matthew 7:24-27 talks about the Wiseman and the Foolish man:
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Listen – GOD WILL NEVER FAIL THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM. I say this not only out of personal experience being one who has walked with God MANY years and can attest to His goodness, His provision, HIS faithfulness, but because unlike people, GOD DOES NOT LIE. God cannot go against His Word. I am learning more and more how important it is to pray the promises that God has made you, BACK to God. I use to be hesitant when I would pray, “Thy will be done.” And I realized recently, that the hesitancy showed a trust issue that I had with God, as IF what God’s will is would not be better than anything I wanted for myself…. I had to ask God for forgiveness when Holy Spirit showed me that I didn’t FULLY trust God. So I ask you the same thing Holy Spirit asked me – DO YOU TRUST GOD? Do you trust the plans that He has for your life? Do you trust God to answer prayer (according to His will)? Do you believe God at His Word? If not, perhaps you have a trust issue too.
God did not make us to be independent of Him. I don’t know about you, but every time I try to make decisions on my own, without God in the mix, I make a mess of things! How do I know? Because the biggest and most important ingredient to ANY recipe in life – IS GOD. Adam and Eve learned a very costly lesson, one that we would DO WELL to recognize over and over again – God does not HOLD BACK from us, but He also doesn’t MAKE us receive from Him. In love God has created us with free will, He doesn’t MAKE any of us automatically love Him, it’s our choice, just like we can’t MAKE anyone LOVE us, we get to choose. God wants us to choose Him… The Bible says in Matthew 7:11:
“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
We can’t out give God. There is a reason for everything God tells us to do, how to act, how to walk in Him, we may not understand all He asks of us, but if God gave His all to us in coming down from the glories of Heaven being born of the virgin Mary, in the form of man (Jesus), to meet us where we are at, to live a sinless life, die on the cross for forgiveness of our sins, resurrect and is at this very moment is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding on OUR behalf and WILL come again in glory to receive those of us that belong to Him – shouldn’t WE give HIM OUR all???? What greater love can there be than for God to show His love, forgiveness and mercy for such a people as US? What MORE can He do than what He has already done????
The question is – what is YOUR house built upon? Are you like the wise man or are you like the foolish man? I pray it is as you as it is the first…
Did you know that your body is a house? Oh yes! Take a look at 1 Corinthians 6:19-20:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
It was God who built YOU, He built you – so why would you choose not to allow “the house of you” that GOD BUILT to be on the foundation that He created you to be on? HIM. That’s like giving a kid a toy that needs a battery without providing the battery. Or a car to someone without a key… The item is just that, an item and without what it needs to serve the purpose it was made, it is just that – a shell of an item with potential to be something it will never be. God made the house of you to be in fellowship with Him. If you choose to live a life without God, then you are just a shell of what God created you to be and your purpose is going undiscovered and unfulfilled. The house of you is planted on sand and will eventually fall. This may be hard to hear, but it is truth, God’s truth and pray that every reader who reads these words will have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to receive (on THIS side of the earth) what Holy Spirit is saying to YOU right now. Because the truth of the matter is God loves you so, so, so very much and He desires the “house of you” to be built upon the foundation of HIM. Because NOTHING can prevail against those who are built upon Him. NOTHING.
We are responsible for our response to God. There will come a day and time where you will stand before Him and have to give an account. Did you accept the Gift of His Son, Jesus or did you reject it? The responsibility for our choices fall upon us. Whether we choose to be wise or foolish – is our choice. I pray we will walk in God’s wisdom, there is NO greater place to be but in the very center of God’s will, listening to HIS voice and following HIS word for direction. May YOUR house be built upon the foundation of Him. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
