Stop Trying to Figure it ALL Out Yourself – You are NOT in Control, You just think You Are…

One of the biggest mistakes in our thought process, is thinking that we are “large and in charge” of our lives.  The Bible gives us a perfect example of how untrue that is.  James 4:13-15 tells us:

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” “

The truth of the matter is, we’ve never been in control of our lives… That is like saying, “we are in control of the weather.” The truth of the matter is we try and surf through life the best way we can, riding out the waves of whatever comes our way. But the REAL reality of it is, if you haven’t accepted the gift of life that God in His infinite wisdom, grace and mercy has given us according to John 3:16:

“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

You, in your own plans don’t already know that you’re not riding it out at all, but like a shell or something caught up in the tide, you’re aimlessly moving through life and not even aware of it until you crash up upon something you can’t figure out how to get through.  Why? Because we are NOT God and God did NOT mean us to live life in the mediocre manner that many of us have chosen to live.  If you are reading this and you haven’t personally accepted Jesus into your heart, accepted Him as Savior, made Him Lord over your life than you have chosen a life of mediocrity instead of God’s best and you won’t realize the truth of these words until you crash into something you didn’t expect in life and realize you’ve run out of answers on how to fix it.  If that is you, if you have come to the end of your rope where you are in life, please pray this prayer with me.

“Father God, thank You for bringing me to this post. My life feels out of control right now, I feel helpless, hopeless, lost like I don’t even know how I’ve gotten where I am right now. I’ve run out of solutions; I don’t know what to do.  Father God, I turn to You for help, please forgive me for my sins and wash me with the blood of Jesus.  Please guide my steps, help me to see my way. I accept You into my heart as my Savior, I turn my life over to Jesus and ask Him to be Lord over my life. Please God, help me, guide me, make Yourself real to me. Thank You for hearing my prayer, it comes directly from my heart. I need You.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you have prayed that prayer, I attest to you that God WILL reveal Himself to you in a mighty way.  Instead of coasting through life you have just grabbed God’s life jacket and He’s got you.  God is GREATER than ANY situation you may find yourself in.  If you have come to the end of your rope and prayed that prayer, your life is now His.  Holy Spirit will come and reside in you, and you will be filled with the peace that passes ALL understanding.  Maybe you hare even beginning to feel Him dwelling in you as you read these words.  We live in a sinful and fallen world, but God TRULY is GREATER than anything that can come our way. I am speaking to you as someone God healed from cancer.  I am speaking to you as someone who has been where you may be – feeling lost, feeling alone, feeling forsaken – but I tell you, I have a God who although hasn’t taken me out of the world, guides me through it and the peace that floods my soul because I realize the truth – although I thought I was in control, I never was – but when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, Lord of my life I gave Him control over it and the difference is beyond ANY words I could adequately write.  The storms will still come in life, I won’t lie to you, but I know the One who is GREATER than those storms and throughout it ALL He has navigated my life and when I look back at all I have been through, where I have come from, I can rejoice that God has had His hand upon my life, as He has His hand upon yours. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven (following His resurrection) He prayed as shown in John 17:15-23:

“I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word, that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

Dear person reading this, God loves you so much… He sees you suffering, He sees your loneliness, He sees your depression, sickness, illness, disease, whatever it is you are going through, He did not EVER mean you to go through it alone.  You were not created to be independent of the Creator.  He made you IN LOVE (however you were conceived) and He made you FOR a purpose.  One is not TRULY living life until they come to the realization of the truth of God’s Word.  The truth of God’s love and if you are reading this post right now, it is because He through His Spirit has directed you here.  He is calling your name.  He is throwing out His Word to you right now as a life jacket through WHATEVER it is you are going through.  Grab hold of it, pray that prayer and watch how God will have you RISE above whatever situation you experience in life.  He will be RIGHT there with you, He ALREADY is!  There is a BIG difference in going through a crisis alone and going through it with the One who is BIGGER than ANY crisis that can come your way. I speak as one who knows. God IS real.  His Word (the Bible) is true.  And when this life is over, we will know just how true God’s Word is. It is so much better to know that God is walking with you, directing your steps even through situations that come your way. There is a peace that truly does pass ALL understanding when you are aware of His presence, know that you are His responsibility and that you having turned your life over to Him, belong to Him. In doing so, you have placed yourself in the very big palm of His hand and God won’t EVER let you go. Not ever! Because YOU belong to Him.
