In 1964 the cartoon “Underdog” came out on TV. I’m aging myself; I know 🙂 But as I prayed about what to write this morning, I was reminded of this cartoon that I use to watch as a child, and it came out BEFORE I was born, I was a very young child when I used to watch it. 😉 I believe Holy Spirit brought it to my mind because I have been thinking about how so many of us Christians submit to feeling like an “underdog” – instead of walking in the victory that God, through His Son, Jesus the Christ provided for us to walk in… It’s time to say NO MORE.
YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE UTMOST HIGH GOD, YOU ARE ROYALTY, YOU ARE CHOSEN, YOU ARE LOVED, YOUR DESTINY IS IN CHRIST GOD HAS CALLED YOU BY NAME. YOU ARE HIS!
Holy Spirit is saying to you this day:
“A great price has been paid for you to walk in victory. The words you speak over your life are powerful. Stop speaking word curses over yourself and your family. speak blessings instead.”
Proverbs 18:21 says the following:
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Those who walk blindly are unaware that as Proverbs 23:7 says:
For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
Are you aware that there is power in your tongue??? Whatever you say about yourself, and your loved ones can either be a blessing or a curse! What are you having alite on your life???? The devil doesn’t even need to lift a finger to harm you because YOU are TOO busy harming yourself! He’s laughing because you are cursing yourself with your words! YOU are declaring that YOU are an “underdog.”
This is where studying your Word (the Bible) is absolutely key! How can you know your blessings and your promises unless you read what they are??? You have GOT to get the Word of God inside of you in order for Holy Spirit to bring them front and center to your mind from your heart so that you can USE that “Sword of the Spirit” which God has provided you as one of your spiritual weapons to attack the battles that occur on the battleground of your mind!
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5:
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
This is where we walk “by faith” and not “by sight.” Remember, you can TRUST your promises from God. He has given us the Bible for a reason! It is our “Sword of the Spirit” and He has given it to us so we can KNOW what our promises are in Him! Hebrews 4:12 tells us:
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Isaiah 55:11 tells us:
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Matthew 12:36 tells us:
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.
This is why when you accept Jesus as your Savior, decide to make Him Lord OVER your life that it is important to pray a prayer of acceptance of the gift of salvation verbally! (If you can’t because of sickness, illness or disease – God knows this – the Bible tells us He KNOWS our thoughts BEFORE we even think them!) Romans 10:9 tells us:
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
What are YOU confessing OVER your life??? Are you confessing curses or blessings????
James 3:10 says:
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.
We need to be careful of our words. Will you pray with me?
“Father God, I give You praise this day! I thank you for making me aware that I need to watch my tongue, what I say. Forgive me for the times when I have spoken curses over myself and those I love unknowingly. I renounce any word curses that I have spoken. I rebuke any word curses that others have spoken OVER me. I choose THIS day to walk in YOUR blessings. I am NOT an “underdog” Your Word tells me in Deuteronomy 28:13:”
God will make you the head, not the tail; you’ll always be the top dog, never the underdog, as you obediently listen to and diligently keep the commands of God.
Jesus, I thank You for giving me the victory over every situation that comes my way. You ARE the Way, the Truth and the Life and you have come so that I can have life and have it more abundantly. So, THIS day I CHOOSE to speak words of blessings over my life, for my life is hidden in YOU. Holy Spirit please help me to catch myself in the words that I say and to believe and walk according to my faith in Christ Who died and rose for me and even RIGHT now is seated at the RIGHT hand of the Father, interceding on MY behalf. And so, I say – THIS is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad and rejoice in it! I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live – yet NOT I, but Christ lives by faith IN me. I AM blessed! I AM healed! I have been delivered; I HAVE BEEN set free! Sin and sickness CANNOT dominate me, the number of MY days He WILL fulfill! I have EVERYTHING I need this day, because Jesus Christ is MY LORD! I walk in ABUNDANT blessings! I am MORE than a conqueror because of His love! Greater is He that is IN me than he that is within the world. I can do ALL things because Jesus Christ reigns! I stand victorious BECAUSE of His love! I am “TOP DOG” and NOT an “underdog.” In Jesus’ mighty and precious name, I pray!
