This is a serious word that I woke up with this morning, probably one of the most important posts I will ever write. I pray that if you are reading this that you HEAR what Holy Spirit is saying to you, so that you won’t fall into the trap that I fell into 15 years ago. That you learn from my past mistake, the one that made me a prodigal at that time…
We have an enemy, a powerful enemy who absolutely hates us. He is the devil, and he hates us because he HATES God and he knows the most effective way to strike at God is to hurt God’s creation, especially us because God made us in His image. I don’t say this to scare you, but so that you will walk in wisdom. The devil is very clever and the ways that he comes at us is not always the ways we expect. He sets traps for us and if we aren’t worded up mighty much with the word of God (and even if we are) we can fall into those traps that he sets. I know this, because I did. Holy Spirit woke me up with this Word for someone this morning –
BE AWARE OF DISTRACTIONS THAT TRY TO CAPTURE YOUR ATTENTION AND KEEP YOU FROM THE DESTINY THAT GOD HAS FOR YOU
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:15-17:
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
Proverbs 4:26 tells us:
“Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.”
Please listen to this word – the traps that the enemy sets are not always predictable. He cannot see your heart or hear your thoughts, but he watches you and he can tell your weaknesses, he preys upon those weaknesses, especially at vulnerable moments in your life. Remember the battlefield is your mind and the Bible tells us in John 10:10:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”
We MUST walk wisely, soaking in the Word of God (the Bible) so we are aware of his tactics. And even then, his traps are very well hidden. We have to stay prayed up and ask Holy Spirit to give us discernment, wisdom and to keep our feet on the path that God has for us!
IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO READ YOUR BIBLE! HIDE GOD’S WORD IN YOUR HEART
1 John 4:4 tells us:
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One Who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
God has a plan for your life, and the devil knows it! He doesn’t want you to fulfill your purpose in Christ, therefore he does EVERYTHING he can to keep you from fulfilling your destiny. Maybe he speaks words of insecurity and uncertainty into your ears, filling your mind with thoughts that you are inadequate, thoughts that God doesn’t love you. Thoughts that God isn’t real. Thoughts that you don’t have what it takes to do what God is calling you to do. Thoughts that you will never amount to anything. Listen to me!
THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! HE IS THE FATHER OF LIES! DON’T LISTEN TO HIS LIES! LEARN YOUR WORD, STUDY THE WORD OF GOD (THE BIBLE) SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW YOUR PROMISES! IT IS ONLY IN FILLING YOUR HEART WITH THE PRECIOUS WORD OF GOD THAT YOU CAN COMBAT THE LIES OF THE ENEMY!
It is a struggle that we all deal with as long as we have breath in our bodies, you see we are in a spiritual war! But here is the thing we need to hold on to –
THE BATTLE HAS ALREADY BEEN WON! JESUS IS THE VICTORIOUS KING! HE HAS DETHRONED THE DEVIL! AND THE DEVIL KNOWS THAT HIS TIME IS SHORT! IF YOU HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS IN YOUR HEART AS YOUR SAVIOR, MADE HIM LORD OVER YOUR LIFE – THE VICTORY JESUS WON IS YOURS! WALK IN THAT VICTORY, LET NOTHING AND NO ONE DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR GOD ORDAINED PURPOSE!
We constantly have to push back the lies the devil tries to have us believe, it is a lifetime battle, but the key is being aware and walking BY faith and NOT by what we feel. I pray everyone who reads these words will walk in wisdom! Walk in discernment! Walk in purpose! There is NO greater joy than fulfilling your destiny in Christ! And God has given us ALL the tools to do so! The battle has already been won! It’s WHY I write! Because God TOLD me I was to be a scribe for Him, but don’t think I don’t let life get in the way of my calling. Don’t think I don’t battle “writer’s block” or my own insecurities to complete what God has called me to do – it is a constant battle and I am very much aware of the enemy and his tactics, although if I am to be honest with you – sometimes he wins in distracting me from what God is calling me to do but THIS morning, God won! I am writing this word to you so that YOU too can walk in awareness! You may be feeling inadequate, but the Bible tells us 2 Corinthians 12:10:
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
We can do NOTHING in and of ourselves – but Holy Spirit can! Remember that we are vessels that Holy Spirit works through so that salvation can be known to those that are lost! And the cost IS high! You may undergo persecution for your faith in Christ. Many have died for it! But oh the joy in knowing that God might use you and the skills He has created you with to REACH those that do NOT know what Jesus has done for them! And it is YOU God wants to use! You just have to ALLOW Holy Spirit to guide you! To work through you! To put on the full armor that is spoken about in Ephesians 6:10-18:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
I don’t know where you are reading this from, what country or place – but Holy Spirit does! What I will tell you is that I was ostracized and ridiculed for my love and faith in God once I accepted God’s gift of salvation. I was made fun of and mocked and treated like “the black sheep of my family.” But even though it pained me, I recognized that I needed to intercede for those I love most – those who were hurting me because of my love for Christ. I needed to LOVE them in a HIGHER form than what they could understand. I needed to continue to pray and intercede on their behalf. Listen, the enemy knows that the BEST way to strike at you is through those you love! Those that have not accepted Jesus as Savior, made Him LORD OVER their lives have been spiritually blinded by the devil! He doesn’t want them to accept the precious gift of salvation! To be redeemed! Remember, he HATES God and he knows that his own days are numbered! You can read about that in the very last book of the Bible, the book of Revelations that is yet to take place – but take place it will! There are loved ones that will perish if you refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to shine His light through the vessel of you! If they won’t allow you to speak the Word of God and testify what God has done with you – JUST LIVE IT! They WILL see a difference in you! It is not YOU they see but CHRIST IN YOU! Let me encourage you! I don’t know what your loved ones need to experience in order to humble themselves to see that they need salvation, but I WILL tell you that 2 Peter 3:9 tells us:
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
ALLOW THE LIGHT OF CHRIST TO SHINE THROUGH YOU! AND TRUST GOD TO DO A GOOD WORK THROUGH YOU!
Intercede in prayer for your loved ones! And battle through prayer for their souls! It is because I endured the pain of rejection from those I loved most recognizing I needed to love them in a higher form than what their blinded eyes could understand that THREE of my family members eventually accepted Christ as their Savior. Recognized their need for redemption and salvation! How my soul rejoiced! And still I pray! And still I write! And still I turn to the Word of God to fortify my soul. We can’t change hearts, we can’t “save” anyone – but the One Who created them can! Distractions keep you from shinning the light of Christ into the lives of others. There is a purpose for you to fulfill – if you don’t know what that purpose is – ASK GOD! He is not keeping it a secret from you! He WANTS you to discover what that purpose is!
I am not always victorious over keeping distractions from keeping me from the work God has for me to do, and the devil would have me beat myself up over it – but God IS a merciful, graceful, forgiving God! He knows we are but flesh. His mercies are new EVERY day! So, I pick myself up recognizing that there are distractions that I have allowed to get in my way and I determine in my heart that I will NOT be led by my feelings (which can be deceptive) but I will be led by Holy Spirit and His purpose for my life. Each moment is a fresh new gift from God to go forward and do His good and perfect will in our lives. We JUST have to walk in discernment, pray for wisdom and direction and TRUST that God WILL fulfill His good and perfect will in our lives, because we want Him to, because He IS greater than ANY distractions and because the battle has ALREADY been won and the victory is ours – in Christ.
