It doesn’t matter how long (or short) it has been since you decided to accept Jesus as your Savior, made Him LORD OVER your life – trusting God is a daily lesson, one that we have to choose to walk in ALL the time. Just when you think you are trusting in Him, life throws you another curve that makes us realize trust IS a choice, one that determines our next course of action in life. Our goal – is to learn how to trust Him more.
You see, we were not made to be independent of the Creator.
WE NEED HIM
More than we need air, more than we need food, more than we need water.
HE IS THE SUSTAINER OF OUR SOULS
We are in the middle of a spiritual battle, the victory has ALREADY been won by Jesus’ finished work on the cross – but the battle itself rages fiercely around us, and it gets more and more fierce as satan’s days are numbered. And he knows it. And he wants to take as MANY down with him as he can. Hence, it is important for us to be prayed up mighty much. Not to let our guard down. The battle takes place in our mind. A fight for the way we think, the way we speak, the way we live and move and choose to have our being. We MUST be mindful. We MUST not forget that we are in battle – and that Holy Spirit has been sent to guide us and comfort us and teach us and show us the Way. So what do we need to do? We need to worship! Even when it’s the VERY last thing we feel like doing. There is SUCH power in praise! And it is one of the reasons why God tells us to do so! It’s not that He “needs” our praise – He IS worthy of it! But even MORE than that – God knows that there IS power in praise! Angels are unleashed! God’s glory falls upon those who worship Him! Demons flee! They HATE it when we praise Almighty God! There are SO many examples within the Bible of victory that has occurred when people have taken their eyes off their situations and kept them on the Almighty God!
James 4:8 tells us:
“Drawer nearer to God, and He will draw nearer to you!”
Immerse yourself in the Word of God (the Bible). Soak it into your very soul! When you do, Holy Spirit will store God’s precious Word into your heart! God speaks THROUGH His Word! So many people say:
“I never hear God’s voice! He doesn’t speak to me!”
And my response is – He IS speaking to you, are you listening??? Are you opening up the windows of Heaven through offering Him praise and worship for Who He is? Are you confessing your sins? Asking Him if there is anything deep within you that needs changing? Anything that is keeping you from hearing from Him? Are you seeking Him with ALL your heart? With ALL your soul? With ALL your mind???? Are you praying? Praying to God is just TALKING to Him, like you would a good friend! We put so much stress in the presentation of prayer – but the truth of the matter is, God knows your thoughts BEFORE you even speak them! But He desires that you talk to Him! Be real! Be open! Be transparent! Whatever it is you are feeling – TELL HIM! Whatever it is you need – TELL HIM! Whatever pain or anger you are experiencing – TELL HIM! Sometimes in order for God to heal whatever wounds us, we need to expose that wound and allow Him to clean it out – even if in doing so we feel pain! IF you draw nearer to Him, He WILL draw nearer to you! He LOVES you soooo much! We make being in a relationship with Him so difficult! Listen, Jesus IS the bridge that brings us into a closer relationship with the Father. All the work has ALREADY been done!
TRUSTING GOD IS A CHOICE
And I’m not saying it is always easy! Wisdom comes along with trust. Guidance comes along with trust. Knowing what God wants us to do in different situations comes with trusting Him to reveal when He wants you to move forward or to stand still. Truly I tell you, it is ALL about relationship. You get to determine just how deep you want to go with Him. He will never force you. But oh the absolute joy that fills your soul when you are walking in harmony with Him. I tell you there is NO greater joy than being in the very center of God’s will for your life.
Situations in life are going to crop up time and time again making you have to determine whether you are going to trust God or not. They will be like branches in the road of life where you can either choose to go the route of trusting God (even when you don’t understand why you in the situation you are in) or choosing to trust in yourself and go the other route – which will not benefit you in the long run at all, and more than likely bring you RIGHT back to the point you were previously at.
We have to remember that we have an enemy that tries to make us question everything God says. It is the same trick satan (and I choose not to capitalize his name) used in the garden of Eden. In Genesis 3:4:
“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.” “
He IS the father of lies! So, whatever he is whispering into your ear – even as you read these words – don’t believe! Rebuke him! Trusting God is the VERY last thing satan wants you to do. In fact, he will do everything in his power to get you to doubt God. Why? Because he doesn’t want you to have a close and intimate with your Heavenly Father! He doesn’t want you to discover what your purpose is in Christ and go forward in it! He CERTAINLY doesn’t WANT you to share your faith in Christ and especially the salvation message with others so that they too will accept God’s gift of salvation.
Trusting God is a DAILY decision. We choose to do it and we are blessed, we choose not to and we go down hard roads that God NEVER intended us to walk down. Pride keeps us from recognizing how much we need to trust God. Intellect keeps us from recognizing how much we need Him in our lives. ANYTHING that centers on anything OTHER than God BECOMES our idol.
Many of the lessons and words I write about are lessons I have learned (the hard way) through my 37 years of being a follower of Christ (part of God’s Called Remnant). My hope and prayer is that you will heed these words and recognize when you ARE trusting God and turn back to trusting Him during the times you start to steal away. It happens! The absolute BEST thing we can do every day is to make sure our eyes are focused on Him. Our ears are open to what He is saying to us and our hearts are receptive to all He is teaching us, saying to us and leading us. There is NO greater purpose in life than trusting in Him. Recognizing when you aren’t trusting and repenting, re-examining our hearts and focusing again. It is a constant effort, but it is SO worth it. Being close to Him, seeking Him, living for Him, honoring Him and setting our minds on Him is the VERY best way to live. In the center of His will for our lives, because NOTHING can be better than God’s best for you and it is found ONLY in Him. \0/ \0/ \0/
